I don't know why but sometime I just got that lucky luck .... Since I injured my back, I went for a long walk instead of my normal jog n swim and guess what ??? hehe on my way back, in between Museum and YMCA, I noticed something purple on the ground and taking a closer look : ) its a 2 BUCKs ... haha

taking big huff n puff, i bend down to take it .... worrying that my back might give way ...

now thinking back ... i am worried that there might be some reality tv filming me being so greedy ! haha

What was the Doctor thinking ???

I just got no idea how come it got so twisted

Spoke to my fren that I hurt my back and my fren's respond was somewhat unexpected ... she was hinting somewhere along the line of bed exercise and was it a very difficult maneuver that I was attempting

then it hit me ! Why my Doctor had that grin on her face when she asked me if I participate in any strenuous activities recently ... (note! its activities and not exercise as other would normally ask)

and to think I actually crack my head and told her I went for a Swim today and she asked if I warm up or not ... followed by a smile

but then, she the cutest doctor so far and she even twirl her hair during the consultation ! hope I will see her again when I go for my follow up : )

immortalize me in ways i never expect

after finding my name on websites that I never expect (click here to find out), I was thinking how cool it would be if one day, I would find my name on some dvd cover ???

the closest I seen was Stefan's movie review blog on a local movie poster and even then, I was so excited for him ... pretty cool to get this kind of recognition

and today ... my younger bro drop the bomb on me ... turn out that my movie quote was not only used in websites but on the back of the cover too !!! CHECK IT OUT!!

I never expect that i will hit the "limelight" so soon !!!! (actually its kinda late cos I think the Dvd out for a couple of years liao) hehehe well ... Stefan : ) Catch UP ah !!!

88 KG !! blood hell !!! I swear my bathroom scale states that my weight is 85kg and yet this polyclinic weighing scale is telling me otherwise !!! haiz

at least finally I found a machine that could print out my weight ... hmmm will go back to weight myself once my bathroom scale indicate that I reach the 80s range and see if there are any changes with this poly clinic machine

Ouch my Back!

I been told to seat properly but I never listen and finally my back demanding payback !

what i thought was a minor ache turn out to be far worse than i have expected ... after sending some delivery, I came home and thought it would be better if I stretch my back for a while ... and it just gotten worse and I realize, I couldn't stand up straight.

It hurts so much that I have to laugh it off ... yes it's that bad .... I found it hilarious that I was crawling to the kitchen n back for water ... yes I am more mobile on fours than on two ...

struggling to stay awake in the ungodly hours of 11am ... (it's ungodly when u slept at 5am, just a few hours ago after Mahjong), my younger brother asked if I wrote certain movie reviews a couple of years ago ... at first I thought I kanna slam by other ppl or what not .... hey it turn out that I was quoted at some other movie / dvd websites as a promo : ) haha what a relief

It's a Wacky Mahjong Game again

It's Mahjong time !

and this time, it was with Chew Cher and family (his sister & cousin). It was great fun (not because I won money but) because of the company and the weird things we did when we were really thinking ...

First of, while starting a game ... I gotten a Chicken and Rat tile and said "Chicken Catch Rat " ... of cos it made no sense as only when one get a Chicken / Centipede or Cat / Rat combo will announce it as it's worth some money ... but I said it for fun and wasn't expecting anyone to do anything ... then Chew Cher sister point it out to me that her brother actually turn to get money for me .... the three of us burst into laughter

Then near the final few games, I was already in a daze (my mahjong stamina isn't that good) and I got a Hong Zhong and Fai Cai tiles left ... I gotten another Fai Cai tile, I need to discard the Hong Zhong and hope to Pong the Fai Cai tile if any other players discard it or if I drew it for myself ...

Just when I threw the tile out, the player beside me Pong the Hong Zhong and threw out a Fai Cai ! WHOOO WHOOO ... how lucky can I get ?? so I Pong the Fai Cai and was thinking which tile to throw out ... as I go thru my tiles, I realized that there were already in sets of 3 and I got a pair of eyes

Hey hey hey !!! I have a winning play on hand ! hahaha much to the disgust of the other players

Now ... nothing in this game could top the final one ... before i continue, I got to say, it's the luckiest hand I ever played

once I collected all the tiles, it was pretty good ... Gotten a Rat, a Cock and a Flower 3 which is my number ... so before starting, I already got 3 tai

I got a couple of big tiles on hand even before I start ... the first pair was the Xi (West) tiles, the second pair was a pair of Bai Ban and the third pair was Fai Cai.

If I didn't remember wrongly, it was Chew Cher that threw out the first Xi that started my first pong ... by then, it was already Pao Da (Warning for anyone who throw big tiles cos if I win with that tile that are threw out, the person have to pay for everyone)

then a centipede crawl into my den ! ... I was already bursting the maximum tai that allowed in a game

Chew Cher didn't believe that I was so capable (lucky) in amassing any big tiles, quickly threw out the Bai Ban and Fai Cai in the constructive sequence of play ... and I pong mercilessly with a slight stench of arrogance ... in that highly charged moment (of cos mixed with a dash of haughtiness), I pointed at Chew Cher and told him ... It's going to be U that will feed me my winning tile ! (yes ... bad habit die hard)

and during the gathering of Bai ban & Fai Cai, a pair of Hong Zhong also came and join in the fun ! I was overwhelm with power! if only there wasn't any limits in the tai, the other players will be crying after the game ! if I got another Hong Zhong ... it will be Da Sun Yuan! it's so big that I don't even know how many Tais will there be

of cos I never had a Da Sun Yuan before

and as tho my luck wasn't good enough, I soon have another set of tiles that could help me win the game ... a 3rd and 5th bamboo which is missing only the 4th bamboo

The amazing thing was that what i prophesied came true ... Chew Cher threw a 4th Bamboo ... which made a tempting pause for me ... since there's no point in waiting for the Hong Zhong as there a limit cap in tai, I yield to my temptation and game ... (the winning sequence as shown below)

Rat = 1 Tai , Cock = 1 Tai, Flower 3 = 1 Tai , Xi Feng = 1 Tai, Centipede = 1 Tai, Bai Ban = 1 Tai, Fai Cai = 1 Tai, Pan Sze (Half Color) = 2 Tai (the mixing of the Bamboo and other Big tiles) , Xiao Sun Yuan = 2 Tai (the Fai Cai, Bai Ban & Hong Zhong combo)... adding to a total of 11 Tai !

and if by our rates of 10 cents / 20 cents without the tai limit cap, I would have won$204.80 from Chew Cher and $102.4 from each of the other two player ... adding up to a total of $409.6

but of cos ... we weren't out to burn each other pockets so it just work out to $3.20 from Chew Cher and $1.60 from each of the other two players ...

so in the end, To make matters simple, I used my winnings to pay for the dinner dinner and a drink that Cher got for me ($5 + $1)

Twister Hit Singapore !!!

Ok ... technically it's just a waterspout but hey ... it's kinda exciting ... specially if u see the video clip posted below ... it actually spun a ship !!!!

When Stefan told me about the Twister / Water Spout ... I didnt thought much of it until the radio reported it ... then when I saw the pix from Wei's blogspot (amazingly, he is in Taipei but he still got his fingers tap to the local network news better than I do) ... It's something to be excited about ...

malu movie ticket experience

Been planning to watch Priceless today and since it had already been taken off the no free list, I assumed that there will be plenty of seats to go around, so I made no prior bookings and just made arrangement to meet my fren, Cpt Peng at the cinema counter a good ten mins before the film commence ...

When I went to the counter, the lady there told me "don't have" after I asked for for Priceless Tickets (ok .. no puns intended ... they know there a movie call priceless k )

Then i tried to correct her by telling her which cinema and the schedule for that show ... I even point to her that there a small paper schedule for priceless pasted on the side of her counter ...

She didn't speak to me and started clicking the computer ... (at which, I was thinking how come the staff there so lousy one) and when she revealed that there is indeed a screening scheduled for that time slot ... (just before I could say .. na got mah ... why u say dont have)... it showed that it was a full house ! with only 2 seats that are not together ... so malu .. heng i wasn't quick enough with the last line !

I been BOOKED !

My Favourite FlateMate just buzz on msn and wanted to give me the rough dates for his wedding !!! I was so excited for him that I thought he had already propose and the girl gave the nod to him .... turn out that (in his own words... it was a conventional relationship) he haven't propose and they had to pre book the chuch cos it got a very busy schedule ... feel like Singaporean getting ROM (married) in order to get that HDB flat

: ) kinda excited that I will be going back to Perth during next year Late March / Early April ... never thought I will be so excited going back to that boring place but recently, I been "missing" that Place ... don't know why but I got a couple of things I like to do when I am back there ... such as surfing (hopefully by then, I will have a respectable weight n figure to go surfing) and my 2nd Sky Dive : ) ...

also there are some food that i crave for in Perth ... that old Italian Pasta place, I crave their pasta and chili mussels. Joy Garden , one of the best place to eat Dim Sum and that Viet Food with the boneless Fried Chicken Wings .... and and even my old school's Satay Chicken (yeah been complaining about Asian food when I was there but hmmm the Satay Chicken there really solid siah ) ... and if I still got space, I like to stuff it with a few Jester Pies : ) and maybe Mr Samurai if it's still open ... oh oh and Freo's Fish n Chips !!! hehehe plus ICE CREAM ... (I think I will be so Fat after this Trip)

and maybe ... hopefully, I get to meet some old friends who are still staying there ... and perhaps some old ghosts from my past

the excited me went to check the cheap budget airfare and whoooooo it's $429.98 (incl Tax) with TigerAirways ... argh ... so ex ... might fly with SQ instead

Don't worry k ... that quote was from HellBlazer and I'm just digging the dialogues used in the comic ... remember the Keanu Reeve's Constantine movie ... yup HellBlazer is the book that the movie is based on ... or fans would say stolen

I managed to get my hand on a copy of the first tradepaperback containing the first few issues of HellBlazer the series from the library ... just to check what the diff between the two formats

Only finish a few issues and it's been a slow read ... not that it's bad, it just there are a couple of characters and events that are popping out of nowhere and I am trying to get a grip on what's happening but I do like the way it's revealing itself ... it's more unaccessible compared to the movie but then, if more time and concentration are put into the book, I believe there more gems in this book format than the movie ...

okie then ... continuing my journey to hell

and that what i like about this series ... when the lead character Suzuki Shimao (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) crashes with the his antagonist about the pros & cons of achieving more wealth ... I stood by Suzuki Shimao's point of view about the simplicity of life and what the point in over achieving ?

but then ... life got a way to teach you a lesson

Lucky I didn't have such a tragic encounter like Suzuki Shimao in this tale, but I am beginning to understand the importance of money just as he is going thru in this drama series ... tho his antagonist is teaching his the hard facts of being wealthy, I am sure that the protagonist will find a way to become rich without losing his soul


and of cos ... there the girl factor to encourage our hero to achieve the financial success

Sometimes, one can be really humbled by other people's wealth ... We were chatting about our financial status and taking a dig at each other's wallet ... I was pointing out to my younger brother that he is so much richer than me that he could afford so many overseas trip in a year ... in less than a year, he been to Australia, just came back from Japan and going to Hong Kong SOON !!! wah liew

and then he drop the ultimate bombshell on me ...

ICE !

was pulling out a ice tray and it got stuck ... used my thumb to assist the removal of the ice tray and when it disengage from the fridge, the ice tray had a layer of ice sticking at the bottom and it was bloody sharp ... left my thumb bleeding and the worse bit is that I cant feel a thing because I was too numb from the cold

hmmmm if u really want to cut someone and don't want that person to feel too much pain, try cutting that person with ice knife

a little girl hit on me

went supermarket shopping and as usual, we left our baskets near the cashier counter so we didnt have to carry our goods around with us as we look for things to buy ... making frequent return to load the basket with what we gather from other shelves.

there is this cute pretty little girl ... trust me, when it comes to little girl and when i say she is cute n pretty, u can take my word for it ....who was shopping nearby saw the two baskets lying on the floor, unclaimed ...

i was browsing nearby and saw that she took interest at what was inside those basket ... our eyes met and she pointed at the first basket and asked ... "who that?"

pointing to myself, i told her "it's mine" with a cheeky look .... or maybe i made monkey faces at her ...

she went on and pointed at the next basket and asked the same question ... i replied the same manner and made a different expression at her

she seems thrilled and like Andrew, asked the same questions over n over again ... feeling the connection ... i played with her ... but kept the distance as I didnt want her Mom to question my motive .... hmmmm

after a while, she stopped her questioning and went back to her mom .... i went on and check the shelve of pasta sauce ... surprisingly, she came back with a pamphlet in her hand ... and asked if i know what was on her hand ... i told her its a pamphlet but i am not sure if she understand what the word pamphlet meant ...

then she started to speak gibberish to me .... baby talk which i think the only language that i am quite talented at without even really trying ... so i spoke back to her in baby talk language ...

and oh boy .. i think it got her so excited that she came to me and hit me with the pamphlet ! ... WAH LIEW .. in my mind, i couldn't believe a pretty cute girl just hit on me !!!!

and just like that, she disappeared back to her mom .... and I went on to my shopping cos I dont think I should encourage such behaviour in that little girl ... it just feel so wrong : ) ... hehehe

WAH .... how ah ??? so straightforward .... should i or should i not ???

Change of luck

Was at my Aunt place to celebrate Mother's Day .... and the usual event took place ... Mahjong ... dont know why, I been itching to play ... partly was because someone told me early this year that when one is lucky in love, won't be lucky gambling .... my gambling luck was extremely good during the last game (recap, click on the last game)

Played with my Grandma, my Brother in Law and my 3rd Aunt ... was my first time playing with my 3rd Aunt and she was also a beginner like me so we were so blur with the rules that we made plenty of funny mistakes

One of the most memorable mistake happened during the flower collecting routine ... when a player collect 2 different colour of flowers that contain their number, he or she could collect money from the rest ... just like if they get a chicken and centipede combo or cat and rat combo

I was the first one to make that mistake ... I got 2 flowery Tile that belong to me and happily announced to everyone that I got 2 Tai ... which mean i could win double if i complete my mahong later on ... (Click here for more info on Tai) .... the players continue for a while and i suddenly realized i might, could have collect some money by getting 2 flowers cards ...

Upon quires with my Grandma, the Grandmaster of Mahjong .... it turned out that I forgotten to ask ... even when i was so "proud" to inform all about my flowery tiles ... and once the next player threw a tile out, you can't collect the winnings anymore .... I took it as a lesson learn since I wasn't sure in the first place ...

After a few games .... My 3rd Aunt suddenly announced that she also got 2 flowery tiles that belong to her number ... after her excitement died down ... she did not mention anything about collecting money ... my eyes open wide wide and just when I was wondering if I should tell her that she could collect money from us, the player after my 3Rd Aunt, my Grandma quickly throw her tile out

then ... I shared this eye contact with my Grandma that i will remember for a long time ... we were trying very hard not to laugh .... I think my bro in law also picked up the vibrations that was transmitting in the air then ...

so there .. 3 of us trying very hard not to laugh .. and by the time, it came to my turn, my 3rd Aunt asked what going on between the three of us .... and I blurted out to her about her mistake .... the most funny thing wasn't my 3rd Aunt mistake but how sneaky my grandma was in quickly move on with the game so she couldn't ask for any money collection ...

But that not the most sneaky thing my Grandma did during the 2 rounds of Mahjong ... as before, my streak of luck was extremely good .... (Must be OUT OF LOVE then) ... all the tiles were good and i gotten so many flowery and animal tiles that my 3rd Aunt called me "Fa Hua Tien" aka (Having Flowery Fever -in canto-)

I was winning big games and soon .. my YaYa-ness emerge ... (self note: bad habit, must change) and Grandma was very quiet ...

then after the 1st round of mahjong ... she asked to change seats and so lucky .... I changed seat with her ... My 3rd Aunt also left the table , changing it to my Dad ... hmmm all the fun communication between players and fooling around at the mahjong table came to a halt ...

my good luck changed 180 degree too !!! the tiles that came my way were pretty bad ... hard to match or join ... and just when I finally got to the waiting to game bit ... either my Father or Grandma would game !

Haiz ... the 2nd round of mahjong felt like getting a beating from my Grandma n Dad ... if the first round was how not to be Ya Ya when winning ... the second round was a lesson on how to Lun during the losing session ...

hmmm well ... maybe Someone decided to love me after the first round : )

It was in this car, I knocked a couple of cones on the expressway to KL while on a defiant journey ... The side mirror was knocked by a very drunk guy and only after convincing him that he had damaged the side mirror, I revealed to the passenger that it was already spoiled before the crash. It was also with this car that I had my first (and i hope only) experience of car getting repo away because someone didn't pay the installment

While going out to get lunch, I saw my Dad speaking to a few strangers in front of 707 ... Sort of guess that he was meeting people to sell the car ...

When I was back, my Sister informed me that 707 had been sold ... Was taken aback that it was sold so quickly .... Was a bit sad and my Sister poked fun of me ...

My Mom then point out that my Sister had the same sad look when they learned about the news ... then my Mom sad ... why is that our family so emotional ? even a non living object leaving us could draw out so much emotions ...

Wanted to bring this car for the last ride ... I got until Sat to do so ....

Turmoil of the Human Heart

I realized how easily it is to make a film that I will love ... let me tell u how (specially those who are film maker wannabe)

It was another windy day ... I pull the curtain up and saw the trees swaying mesmerising in front of me .. I was thinking of the floating yellow flowers from yesterdays and wondering that for every songs that I like or search for, must there be a story to it ? ... (John words echoing in my mind)

then my thoughts strayed into movie ... It felt like it was a scene that i seen it before and it wasn't just one movie ...

the first one that i remember was A Bittersweet life, it had a monologue about a monk and his disciple, pondering about the swaying trees and leaves ...

"Master, are the branches moving or is it the wind?"

to which the monk enlighten his disciple that

Not even glancing to where his pupil was pointing ... "That which moves is neither the branches nor the wind ... It's your hert and mind."

hmmm then it occur to me ... that wasn't the first time that a movie which I loved begin with a similar message like the one above ... and it came to me ... Ashes of Time also had one of such message flash before the movie started ...

I am such a sucker for such message .... I remember that by the first monologue of A Bittersweet Life and the message appearing in Ashes of Time, I had already somewhat fell in love with the film already ...

Story Behind Why I Wanted this Song

Haiz.... I did it again ... Made John seek out songs for me and being the music guru that he is .... he found it for me ... and even got the wma file for me ... (tho a bit disappointed as it wasn't the original singer that I was hopping for but beggar can't be choose right hehehe)

After sending the wma file to me ... he asked "im sure theres a story behind it"

I replied :"what story ?"

and he said : "to why you want this song lor"

Initially, I told him that wasn't one ... but a second later and giving more thought about it ... I realized ... hey there was a story behind why I wanted this Song ...

While I was waiting to cross the street, a strong gust of wind blew some yellow small flowers away from their trees, they floated down like snow flakes and in my mind ... i heard this lady singing "xue hua piao" over n over again ...

I knew Faye Wong cover this Teresa Teng song before and who the biggest Faye Wong fan in my network : ) of cos it's John and just like that, I found out that the song that floated into my mind was 雪中莲

Just gotten it from carrefour cos i need a pail to soak my sweaty tee n shorts from jogging ... the current pails at home are all either too big or specially for Andrew only ... so hunt for a pail at the nearest supermarket and found a fold able pail !

I was so impressed with it! Using gravity to draw the water out actually helps to strengthen the pail's structure ! tried to explain the amazing use of physic to my Mom and I got a "so bo liao, a pail only ... study so much for what ?"

Life Greatest Distraction

Got a fren who should be studying for her paper ... but kept talking to me and sending mp3 files to me ...

being a nuisance, I asked her ... "aren't you suppose to be studying ? concentrate !"

and which she reply, "you are my life greatest distraction !!"

Roses Vs Charms

My Ex was consoling me and was telling me that I still got some selling points (i.e: to the opposite sex )... one of them is my charms which I myself really can't see or figure where it lies anymore

Our topic changed and we chat abt giving flowers in courtship and relationship ... I told her that actually when guys gave their partner Roses, Roses actually represent the female's vagina ... there for by such representation, the guy's intention is actually looking for a trade off ...

then suddenly she said: "why you never gave me any roses during our relationship"

which i replied: "cos i got charms ma ... so don't need roses hehehe "

I won 1 award for that reply : ) hehehe

Deleted Scenes from Fallen Angel

was at wongkarwai.net and someone posted some deleted scenes of Wong Kai Wai (WKW)'s Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel is not one of my my favourite WKW movie but usage of "Only You" by the Flying Pickets created a whole new feel to the film segment and it made me want to watch this film again ... hmmm the power of editing ! what a waste that WKW didn't include this scene into the final cut of Fallen Angel

But then again ... wastage is just another WKW trademark

Someone in the forum commented about that regretful kiss at the end of the scene and it was those type of moments that I love about WKW's Movie ... and of cos his choice of music ...

2 drops of tears

I came across this segment while having lunch ... I didnt know what John Cho did to the Old guy but somehow there is this familiarity in this scene that I could guess what had happen

It's never easy to ask for forgiveness ... initially, I couldn't feel John's sincerity but in the end, it was a such great build up for the final emotional outburst ... the touch, the breakdown and the sense of forgiveness ...

It was so overwhelming that 2 drops of tears fell on my lap ... till now, when I watch this scene over again ... I still go teary up
