BBQ lessons learned

Had an enjoyable BBQ gathering with folks from Team Moviexclusive. But it wasn't without any glitch and listed below are some lessons learned from the BBQ experience

1. No matter if the food’s marinated, the pit’s book, the charcoals bought and the weather cleared up. There must be a lighter or match/match box to start the BBQ going. Don’t ever assumed that a simple household item is easily available at home because you never know when will Murphy Law strikes

2. Year End period is not a good time to have BBQ. It’s raining session for Singapore and chances are pretty high that the sky might just piss on your parade. Had a scary episode when it started raining at 5.30pm but lucky it ended around 6pm.

3. 2 Chicken Wings per person is an excellent gauge for consumption. But the chicken wings bag made it hard to gauge how many chicken wings that I was buying therefore resulting in too many chicken wings leftover.

4. Charcoals with advertising on their bags that claimed that they would last longer and burn stronger should be avoided. The best Charcoals are those traditions Chinese big ones that come in plain brown bags.

5. There a cool charcoal pack that starts easy by burning the bags. Good to use as starter for BBQ. Available in Carefours.

Overheard Today 27 Dec 2005

"The only way out will be thru my anus "

~my reply when asked if I wanna split out the tough beef that I been chewing for quite some time~

The 12 days of Christmas conspiracy

While having dinner, Denise asked me why there’s this 12 Days of Christmas and won’t it cross over the New Year Day celebration since people are still celebrating Christmas.

I tried to bluff her by telling her that last time people don’t celebrate Christmas so it’s all right that the Christmas celebration spill over the New Year date.

Then she mention that I told her that the true Christmas date should have been 19th Dec and not 25th Dec (as learned from a program in Discovery Channel), then 12 days of Christmas would have end by New Year day.

Kinda cool right ! We should celebrate Christmas on 19th Dec instead !

Singapore Snow Blitz

While Andrew's Grandparents are learning how to "Cha Cha Cha", Denise and I brought Andrew to Tanglin Mall's Snow Fest! After dropping them and parking my car at the basement car park (which a lot of other visiting cars didnt and park along the road beside Tanglin Mall ~ tsk tsk tsk), I wonder how am I going to find Denise and Andrew (Since I am holding her HP and there so much soapy forms/many kids around)

The first person I saw was not Denise but someone famous instead ... guess who ?

and pretty soon, I found her hubby nearby playing with their son ... I was getting worried cos if I am not able to find them now, how will I be able to find them when the snow machine starts ?

Then nearby a foam cannon, all dressed up for the snowing, I finally found them. Well I would have nearly missed Andrew cos he was almost hidden by the snow foam but lucky Denise was taller and was wearing black (which make it easier in the midst of lots of white)

the commencement of the snow blitz

one of the best picture that I took during this snow storm : )

yeah me ... getting lost in all this foam

even caught him kissing the "snow" ... yike I hope the "snow" is non-toxic

wading out of the snow storm, my feet are covered by foams/snow ... kinda yucky feeling and all this for half hour of mayhem ? hehehe it was fun but I still prefer the real thing over this ...

Just before we made our way back home, Andrew stopped by a toy shop and refused to budge. Kinda amusing the way he put his hands behind his back and look like he was inspecting the toys. ~aye sir, we will move faster now~

even after all these snow madness, we were still back in time to catch GrandParents cha cha in action

First Dvd Purchase ~ part finale

Finally the last DVD had arrived! The wait is over now!

It was shipped on the 10th Dec evening and it reached today, taking only around 9 working days.

Overall it had been an enjoyable experience. All the Dvds reached me in good condition, their delivery time was superb and their price was cheap. Even tho there was this mix up, they send me a replacement without asking me to return the wrong Dvd back to them so all is forgiven on that boo boo.

However there are some folks from xtreme forum complaining about their missing/late dvds and I am glad it never happened to me (or issit becos I am a first time buyer therefore they are specially nice to me?). Anyway hope my second purchase with DDD will be as smooth as this one.

The fastest bus driver I ever met

Fast as in negotiating heavy traffic and bends.

I was going to catch a movie at Shaw Lido and just when I hop on bus 124, I thought the traffic will make me miss at least 5 or 10 minutes of the movie (It’s the Christmas period and traffic at Orchard Rd is a killer).

But this amazing bus driver actually managed to over take 5 busses in front of them (by taking a different route from the normal bus route and cutting over vehicles like an expert who crossing the Sin-JB causeway peak hour traffic).

In the end, I reached the bus stop 2 mins before the movie schedule.

However the movie only starts 20 mins after the schedule timing … argh !

"Why Chocolate Is Better Than Sex" VS "I don think SO"

Just read my friend blitz's blog entry on "Why Chocolate Is Better Than Sex" and even tho I enjoy Chocolate very much, I can't help but disagree with him on all the points mentioned.

"1. Chocolate satisfies even when it has gone SOFT.
2. You can make chocolate last as long as you want it to.
3. You can have chocolate even in front of your mother.
4. If you bite the nuts too hard the chocolate won't mind.
5. With chocolate there's no need to fake it.
6. Chocolate doesn't make you pregnant.
7. Good chocolate is easy to find.
8. You are never too young or too old for chocolate.
9. When you have chocolate it does not keep your neighbours awake.
10. With chocolate, size doesn't matter. "

1. Chocolate satisfies even when it has gone SOFT.
> hehehe even if it gone SOFT ... there are other ways to satisfies

2. You can make chocolate last as long as you want it to.
> with practice, U can make sex last as long as u want it too ... if u want lessons, come look for me ... ladies FOC : )

3. You can have chocolate even in front of your mother.
>Er why cdo u wanna have sex or even chocolate in front of ur mom ? if i have chocolate in front of my mom, chances will be that I will lugi chocolate instead.

4. If you bite the nuts too hard the chocolate won't mind.
>ouch ... no challenge here

5. With chocolate there's no need to fake it.
> faking it can be as good as the real thing ... just as long as u dont discover that she faking it : )

6. Chocolate doesn't make you pregnant.
> True but now we got condoms ... so no problem or worries here

7. Good chocolate is easy to find.
> sex partner also easy to find ... worse case, go find "chicken" hehehe

8. You are never too young or too old for chocolate.
> NO TRUE ! my nephew n grandpa both got banned from Chocolate too !!

9. When you have chocolate it does not keep your neighbours awake.
> as long as u got thick walls and not those cheap hotel walls, I dont think sex noise will be a worry here ... + u never know, ur neighbours might enjoy it too

10. With chocolate, size doesn't matter.
> it doesnt matter but it will make u fat ! it's just as bad as the size issue n sex

First Dvd Purchase ~ part 5 ~ the second package

The first thing I noticed yesterday when I reach home from the up north trip was a notice slip from Singpost to collect a bulk item from them.

Mr Postman came to my place on the 12th Dec but no one was at home to receive the package so i gotto go the nearest Post Office to pick up my parcel. Tho I was pretty tired from the trip, I can't wait for 8.30pm (that when the Post Office Opens) and was out of my place once I could open my eyes.

The parcel was bigger than I had expected for housing one Dvd title. I was also expecting a slower delivery time for one Dvd Title package but it reaches my place within 7 working days. Overall the "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" Dvd came in good condition and I am still pretty happy with my purchase with DDD so far.

Now left with "Swimming with Sharks" and I am kinda expecting it to reach me by the 19th Dec ... let's see how lucky I get

The Traditional A&W stop over

As usual, the trip back from KL/Penang would not be complete without the stopover at A&W. The Diff this time was that we knew where to stop. The previous stopover was at Sungei Buloh and the food was terrible. This time round, under the wise advice of my co-driver, we stop over at Ayer Keroh (State of Malacca) instead. Even tho we missed the lunch time hour, it was well worth the wait.

and the grades are;

RootBeer Float - PASS (The very first sign of Frosty Mug was a comforting one)
Curly Fries - Pass (as usual)
Waffle Butter - Supplementary PASS (the Waffle's great but the maple syrup wasn't sweet enough)
Corny Dogs - Fail (The HotDog's Skin like rubber siah)

From now on, will only stop over at Ayer Keroh for A&W

Torturing a crab and other fun stuff at the beach

A recollection of a walk at a nearby beach after the morning buffet

~ First Encounter, a Sleeping Dog ! ~ dare not go to near it~

~ She Sells SeaShells on the Sea Shore ~

~the hole where does it lead to ? who dug it ?~

~it was the hard working crab who had the unfortunate luck of running into us~

~who thought it was a good idea to seek shelter under my shoes~

~and even tried to hide under my butt and by that action I shall name it; Butt Crab~

~The Crab was not harm in anyway during the photo shoot and the chase. We believed that it will be great tale that this crab will tell it's grandkids ... "you know grandcrab once stood against 2 human and live to tell the tale" ~

KL Subway Paper Ticket ~ a big step backward ?

Went to KLCC via subway and got quite a shock. They are issuing paper tickets (like how old cinema used to do in the early 80s) to their passengers and have workers standing beside the automated gates to collect those paper tickets.

Now I am not sure if they are still issuing the normal magnetized card like they used to (I tired to get one but the vending machine keep rejecting my coins and dollar note) but I thought that really a Big Step backward for a subway, specially one that beside a international landmark like KLCC.

Hope that it's just a temporary change and they will revert back to automation soon.

“Be our guest” or “We are deaf”?

Today is my poly’s friends Brian and Vivian‘s wedding. They are the third couple from my first year poly class that met, started dating and finally tied the knots.

When the first dish was served, they played this song that got this chorus going “Be our Guest, Be our Guest, be Our Guest” (I was told later that it was a song in “Beauty and the Beast” sang by a candlestick and not “The Little Mermaid” or any prawns that sang it).

But the song was played so loud that I thought they were singing, “We are Deaf!” and we all had a good laugh about that.

Everything else was great… Specially meeting folks like Gary Goh and his wife who I haven’t met for about 6 years. Gary even reminded how bad he felt when he sprained my neck once during poly (which I couldn’t remember at all) and got to see senseh to fix my problem. He even paid $50 dollars for it which I thought was too much, hehehe $25 should be enough. It’s was fun being reminded of amusing stuffs that happened in the past even thought I don’t have any recollection of it anymore (must be Amnesia)

Sherman and Ivy got a little baby girl liao and they name her Shevonne (Don’t Know if that the right spelling but I was told that it’s a combination of SHERman and Yvonne). I asked them why not name the kid Shervy instead?

Yun Feng came with his gf and kanna drill by me when, where and why (when did they get together, where did they met and why he took so long before their relationship started ~ they knew each other for 5 years and only started their relationship 1 year ago)

Charlene came alone cos her hubby is outstation in Shanghai now. She claimed that she is not worried about her hubby alone in Shanghai but really feel like advising her to go spotcheck on him. Anyway I haven’t chat with her for a long time liao and its pretty fun tag teaming with my perfume networking kaki to Q&A/ Kapoh~ing Yeow Lin’s his past & recent BGR problem.

Anyway all good banquets had to come to an end ~ sigh this dinner really make me miss the time we had during our first year in Poly and all those overnight mahjong session

First Dvd Purchase - Part 4 - The long Distance Call

After 3 Emails, more than 10 working days and following the advice from another "victim" from xtreme forum, I made a long distance call to DDD regarding the wrong Dvd that was send to me.

I even call ICC up this afternoon to check if there will be any extra charges from USA toll free number becos I received a recorded msg that mention something about International Charges when I tired calling them yesterday. Turn out that msg was just to inform me that it won't be Toll Free for me cos I am calling from Singapore... (yeah I am a Cheapo!)

Anyway within 6 mins of waiting and explaining to the operator at DDD customer service, I believe the matter had been settled. They will be sending me the right Dvd, "Swimming with Sharks" to me (which will reach me in 10 to 20 working days). They also mention something about charging to my credit first but the bottom line is that I won't have to pay for the Dvd.

HOORAY ! now I gotto look for someone who wanna buy my Herbie Full Loaded Dvd : )

Acid Bar and other stuff that fried my brains

Met up with good old cutie petite Eliza today. It’s been about 10 years since we last met each other and lucky I happen to bump into her at the National Library recently.

Lots of catching up to do but mainly it was about Lester (her “pedophile” admirer), her “Wild Days” during JC (I just realized I am the only one that don’t have “Wild Days” during my youth) and the awful craps I told her before.

The thing that fried my brains (beside alcohol) was when she shared with me her Israel mission trip, gave me a new perspective on Jews, Nazi, the Crusades and God. Most importantly was the passion that she had for helping the Jews that I felt was pretty noble and incredible.

Anyway someone once asked me, what my passion in life. I can never really answer that question. When I saw the passion that Eliza has in her eyes when she was sharing her mission trip, I can’t help feeling envious and jealous.

It’s good to have a passion even if it’s difficult and potentially dangerous. Somehow her life is so much more enrich & wonderful than mine. Kinda wonder, Had I wasted my past 10 years?

All that and it was my first time down at Acid Bar, should have embrace my “wild days” during my youth and now I just hope it’s not too late to try.

More Lightning Photos!

I managed to capture another lighting photo with my Olympus 5050 this early morning.

It was a lucky shot cos I was still trying to figure out the controls and angle when I press the button to snap the pic. That kinda explain why the frame was so out and the lights below kinda blurred. But still, I was pretty happy that I managed to get bits of the lightning for what I thought was my second successful lightning photo.

~the blur bright spot on my 5050 lcd that didn't indicate anything special~

What I didn’t realize was that on the day I managed to capture my first lightning picture with Razr, my 5050 also managed to capture 2 lightning photos. I only found out when I was transferring photos taken at today “Perhaps Love” Gala Red Carpet onto my computer. Had to do a little contrasting and lighting editing with my photo studio to see it better.

And to think I almost deleted it away because I thought I only caught a sky of bright white lights.

Hehehe glad it’s the lightning seasons cos there will be 3 more days of lightning

Picky ? Yes I am !

While having pizza dinner tonight, my GF mention that I was picky (over the pineapple on my slice of pizza).

2 thoughts came to mind

1. “I am picky that why I choose you”
2. “I am picky about everything except choosing a girl friend”

hehehe

Perhaps Love ? Perhaps too lucky ?

Today I got a call from the NLB, informing me that I won the Perhaps Love Movie Tix contest. So I went down this evening to collect my ticket while returning my Dvds borrowed from NLB.

The Shocker came when the NLB staff told me that I won 4 pair of tix! and 8 posters to go with my tix! I don't even know if I will like the movie enough to even want 1 Poster.

So what will it be for you ?

4 Jacky Cheung or

or 4 Takeshi Kaneshiro

and what should i do with the 8 posters ?

First DVD purchase - part 2

My last Dvd (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) from the first DVD order was shipped today.

Sigh even up to now (after 5 working days & 2 emails), there's no email from them regarding the wrond Dvd that they send to me.

And it turned out that I am not the only one who got this problem. There another guy who had 1 missing dvd from his shipment.

But then I am not going to worry too much : ) I just realized that the Herbie Dvd (US$19.29) cost more than the Sharks Dvd (US$10.63). I gain US$9 dollars ah !! hehehehe but still I wish they would just send me my Swimming with Sharks instead or at the most i try to sell my Herbie Dvd.

Broken Phone

Denise's Hp been smashed into 2 by Andrew.

Big Hoo Haa at who's at fault, missing the point and "It's all my son's fault" (not said by Andrew's mom but my own mom) label started flying around.

Now Denise uses my Razr & I am back to using Nokia until she get a new HP.

or should i get the Mac Mini instead ?

Went to the Apple Centre to check on the Installments and it's not so enticing anymore.

7% per year : that work out to be about $200 dollars on top per year
or 3.6% per year with credit card.

After talking to Dgital, i am changing my focus to Mac Mini : ) cost abt 1K and all I need is a Monitor, Mouse n Keyboard.

It's either that or build one on my own ... anyone care to help ?

maSSb> same boat dude : )

blitz > do u think it's possible to build my own pc, matching Mac's functions at a cheaper price ?
