Inspired by Yes Man (& the Fish Feeding experience) and scared by the numerous "bank robbers" friends' requests, I am going to modify my plan to enrich my life. Instead of saying Yes to all requests, I am going to do something that I never done before in my life (or as far as I could remember).
Once a month for the 12 months of 2009. They could be something as minor as putting on underwear with both feet at the same time to learning how to play drums (haha I wonder if anyone will roll eyes at that private joke).
I am taking suggestions from friends (NOTE Friends! Not Friendly Robbers or Gay Dude trying to be extra "Friendly") on what to do each month. I have one in mind and nothing much for the rest of the year.
Check out the side column of my blog to see what I have done in each month. I will do my best to impress but Don’t expect major entry per month … I might not have the time to do so.

While digging in the Garden
with Andrew ... We found some Slugs

and this song keep running in my mind ...
Don't want to lose my shirt
Don't want to dig the dirt
Don't want you to get hurt
Can't help that I'm a flirt
Don't want to take your drugs
Don't want to be your slug
Don't want to overdress
Don't want to make a mess
Don't want you to confess
Not under duress
Don't want to be untrue
I want to be with you
Don't want to lose my nerve
Don't want to clothe the curve
Don't want to make you swerve
Don't want what I deserve
Don't want to change the frame
Don't want to be a pain

Andrew Berak Me
Berak means Shit in Malay
Was going to hospital to see my Dad and was stopped by Andrew at the door steps. He wanted to go out with me and normally I don't bring this little bugger along as I have difficulties in controlling him. But I thought SGH is close by and his Grandfolks would be delighted to see him, I gave him the ok after clearance from his Mom.
so off we go ... to a good start. He was very obedient and buckle up when requested. Had some meaningless chat about cars (this 4 years old knowledge on cars had exceeded mine) and other Kungfu stuff. In short, an enjoyable short ride.
Reached SGH carpark and waited for an empty lot. Saw one far behind and reversed back quickly to chop the lot before any cars come by. While reversing, Andrew who is leaning on the seat with his Bum up, gave me the Shrek's Puss in Boots look and said
"Da Jiu, I Berak"
I jam break and the first two words that went thru my mind was "NO BERAK", then it was "are you shitting me ???" (Puns weren't intended but it fitted very well to the situation)
I wasn't equipped nor prepare to deal with this and was freaking out on how to get this little shitter to his Grandma for clean up ops. and to think he was such a good boy till now ! Holy Shit?
Then I told him .. "Don't Move, Keep your Bum up from the Seats and don't touch the dashboard" "Let me finish reverse parking my car first"
After which, I looked at him and asked how come he never go before leaving my house. I was worried that he might have wanted to rush out to go on a car ride with me that he kept his incoming shit a secret from me. Then I asked him how bad was it and he gave me that "bo bian" (what to do / helpless ) look. I felt bad for him and suddenly he crack a smile !
I suspect something wasn't right and I kept asking him whether did he really Berak in his pants. This chronic young talented liar kept saying he did. it was until I told him that I won't be mad at him if he didn't then he broke into laughter !
I can't believe I beenshited on fooled by a 4 years old !!!

Kok Kee Wanton Noodle @ Lavender Food Centre
Just brought one overseas friend to makan the famous Bugis Wanton Noodle and one of the stuff I told her about my history with this noodle stall actually surprised myself (Yeah ... Sometimes I make myself go "What The ???")

It turned out that the earliest memory of eating out would most likely be from this Stall. It also meant that the first dish that I could actually remember eating or became fond of eating would be Wanton Mee (from this stall).
Back when they were still in Bugis Street (I think that street was called Hak Gai - Black Street) and on the road sides with kerosene lamps. They were the first stall from what I had always remembered as the Main Street.
I never thought of what would be the first dish that I remember eating nor which stall would register in my mind first. But after telling my friend how my folks n I used to go eat this stall's Wanton Mee when I was very young, I realized that this stall is the first food stall that I actually remember.
Sadly, it was my Grandpa's death that brought me back to this stall after many many years ... We were attending his funeral arrangement at the Funeral place nearby and afterwhich, my uncle suggested having lunch over at Lavender Food Center.
Nowadays, whenever I am near this Food Centre, I will pop by and eat from this stall. The Noodle is simply fantastic with the watery gravy. The Char Siew n Wanton is so so only in my book.
How to find the stall?

well, they will always be having a long queue in this Food Centre ... it isn't that hard to spot ... just don't have Yong Tau Foo beside this stall ....

Becoming Fish Food
I been feasted on by mosquitoes ... tho I didn't really like it, I been planning to be the buffet for fishes after watching some documentary which showed a certain country that provide such "torture"...

While the European version allows the "victim" to soak their body in the water while the fish feast on them, SG version only got a feet version (they called it fish spa and charged 10 bucks for 10 mins)

Truth be told, even tho I wasn't so frighten like my friend was, when I inserted my feet into the water, the frenzy nibbling of my feet felt like I was attacked by a bunch of piranhas (of cos pain and gross level turned down a few notches).
The funny thing was that after I soak my feet for a good whole 3 to 5 mins, I turned to check my friends (to see if she is enjoying the treatment or not) and to my horror, her feet are still above the water!
I don't know if she is trying to bait the fishes or just like towaste spend money in such way, I was shocked she haven't "jump" in like I did. Had to push her feet in to "suffer" the same way as me.

Was kinda tempted to escape from such "torture" but I resisted and didn't flutter kick these poor hard working fishes (unlike my partner). Taking a closer look, the fishes look like those you can get from fish shops and their nibbling was actually quite fun.

Had so much fun that the ten mins finished rather quickly ... but was told to go to the middle pool where there are the bigger fishes. Promoted to play with the big fishes now : )
These Big Fishes, tho fewer in numbers and they don't swam towards thy feet, their bite was more "painful" and could really feel them taking a "big" bite. Tho it's strangely enjoyable, I prefer the mini workers at the smaller fish pond. More bites , Less painful : )

at the end, I am not sure what kind of therapy am I getting nor does my feet feel any better than it was feeling prior to submerging my feet into the fish pond. It was fun and I don't mind having another go at the 30 mins ... just to feel so many little mouths nibbling at my feet

How Chek Ark am I?
Chek Ark means Cruel / Being Wicked in Hokkien
Recently, I had needles and pins in my leg (after sitting cross legged for "too long"). I was chatting with my friend and my expression "sour up" due to the "unpleasant" feeling going thru my leg.
My friend asked me what's wrong and I told her that I was having the needles and pins right then.
Unexpectedly, she start kicking my leg! I was pretty stunned and wondered for a while if she was trying to help me out in some strange way. I also thought it was damn cruel to do such stuff to someone who is pretty much immobile due to that situation.
So I asked her ... Why is she kicking me when I'm in "pain"?
Her answer was a even more stunning one ... it turned out that I actually did that to her before !
I was speechless at how Chek Ark I was capable of !!! there are just things that I did which constantly impressed the heck out of me! ... yeah so don't ever tell me if you are having cramps in the leg ... or tell me that you need to go to the loo ... cos I take satisfaction at being so Chek Ark

IP is The Man Pt 2

The first thing I told my friends after the show ended was that I am going to eat my words (in regards to Ip Man). Although some insider source told us that this movie was going to be packed with action sequences but low on plot, I thought it was a pretty decent story with super duper fighting that better than Huo Yuan Jia (cos it's more grounded in reality type of fighting that wire-fu). One of the better acting performance by Donnie Yen and for once (in a long time), I can't wait until the next excuse to stage another fight scene!
Highly Recommended ... feel like bringing my Nephew to watch this! Since he is a big Fan of Huo Yuan Jia. oh and my one liner review for this will be
"Way better than Fearless and SPL"

3 Japanese Movies that I want to watch
The Magic Hour ザ・マジックアワー

From the maker of Welcome back Mr MacDonald, this comedy is about a small time gangster, Bingo who got caught sleeping with his boss girl. To get out of certain death, he lied about knowing a notorious hitman and was spared if he could bring the hitman to his boss. Lucky for Bingo, nobody knows how that hitman looks like and he knows Murata, a tough looking B-grade actor who loves to act.
Cant wait to see how this mess will work out : )
Official Website
Ikigami イキガミ

Somewhat like a cross between Battle Royale and Accuracy of Death, Ikigami is about a guy who just started in new job in delivering death notice to folks, informing them that they have 24 hours left to live ... those who kanna the death notice gets to do anything they want in those final hours of their life ... how will they live them? how will this affect the delivery man?
Official Website
Detroit Metal City デトロイト・メタル・シティ

An Innocent love ballads pop star wannabe who find little success in his sweet easy listening songs but discover his real talent in Heavy Metal Music. The problem is that he hates screaming about rape and murder on stage and couldn't wait to retire his heavy metal alter ego. Sound like bloody fun time : )

I'm goin to say Yes to Everything
in moderation (just when you thought you got me at the title huh! Read the small print!)

Never really been a fan of Jim Carrey's rubbery expression but this new flick of his had amused, inspired and even somewhat motivate me to be more positive of what might come my way!
Ironically, I received the most rejections (ie NO) for this movie ... and I thought Jim Carrey shouldn't be that hard to sell to people ... anyway TO those who rejected me ! you should watch this and reflect on your action / rejection !!! tsk tsk tsk
Oh and RED BULL kept me up all night !

The Movie that made me felt like an Alien

I am often in the minority when it comes to liking and disliking a movie. That kinda doesn't really make me a good movie reviewer to the masses but let's not touch on too much about that (or I might be out of "job").
What really surprised me was that when I spoke to friends who had seen this movie, they all gave it the thumb down! Not average, ok la or can do ... it's the "it's bad" type of feedback ... so far, there are 5 of my friends who said that to me and it's haven't reach the opening weekend! I really felt like an alien for sitting on the edge of my seat thru out this movie.
there are a lot of things i liked about this movie ... how it didn't preach the message and instead share with the audience in a very "personal" manner and smaller scale way which felt like the good old days of doing serious a film with serious issue. Or maybe I shared the same view as the Alien visiting Earth and saw/enjoyed how the different characters in this film represent the different aspect of Human nature.
the only thing I didn't like about this film was that I would prefer the ending to be more open ended but I guess there will probably cause more outrage with the viewers.
While talking to one friend who didn't like this film, our chat reminded me of this chat I had with a pretty poly mate many many years ago. It was about a film called Contact and it was about making the contact with Aliens. She was very vocal about it being a very bad sci fi movie. I enjoyed it very much and asked she didn't like it and her reason was that (potential spoiler so scroll over) there wasn't any alien lifeform (as the alien appeared in a human form) presented in this movie (potential spoiler end) . Was dumbfounded about it cos that wasn't the point that I got from the movie and I felt that the same case with this ...
is there no one out there that might share the same view for this movie? ... haiz
Alien Lim signing off ...

How to get the Girl : )
During my visit to my friend's hometown in Sandakan, I managed to catch this TVB Hong Kong series by Dayo Wong. He played the famous Wong Fei Hong ... arch rival, Gan Yan Kin. It was in Canto but without English Subs and I felt the picture quality wasn't as nice as ones we get on SCV.

Anyway, it's finally being played in Singapore's Cable TV.
The Concept is quite unique as any Movie or Tv Series featuring Wong Fei Hong would normally place him as the lead but in this comedy, the focus is on the baddie, a reverse from the norm.
What makes this series so appealing to me in this series is how they contrast these two characters and demostrating why there are girls who like "bad" guy (Men not bad, Woman No Likie ah). hehehe even used this TV series to "teach" a friend of mine who is too nice to the ladies. Must be notti a bit ... tease the girls more and take advantage when possible ... hahaha
Loved this series so much that I even nicked myself as Gan Yan Hin (Hin is the last character of my official Chinese first name). FYI Gan Yan means the Wicked One. If only I can be as Gan as the Man : )
The series is coming to an end on SCV cable tv but not to worry ... Channel 8 or U will pick up soon.

to be or not to be ...
Was out with a bunch of Poly Friends and had a great time joking / teasing one of them who is getting married in the upcoming Children Day. Wasn't expecting him to propose ask me to be his brother (tho we had been rather closed during poly days).
I had already done brothers three times for my friends and do not want to do it anymore. It's tiring, humiliating and not to mention that curse of becoming brothers for more than 3 times.
He asked a couple more times and I felt bad turning him down. He even offered to be mine when the time comes for me.
To be or not to be ?
If I be, then there will be another few more brotherhood that I could also take up since it's officially more than three times... I can't decide

that misconception about me
Was chatting with various different frens from school days recently and one disturbing trend keep emerging. A misconception about me that I wish to clarify with them but it seems that its the same as washing myself in the yellow river.
A couple of them had this notion that I am a flirt / playboy and mention that it would feel very insecure as my girlfriend.
Sidestory: Recently one of my friend asked why am I single for 2 years, (I didn't pick up the suaning but) my Ex actually exclaimed to our mutual friends that I kept changing girlfriends in this past 10 years so need to take a break from relationship. I felt very touched that she would speak out for me (although partly she couldn't stand the guy who "questioned" me) but still ... I feel that my image had been badly tarnished.
I told one of them this story (which is the main story I would like to blog about) to demonstrate that although I might be overly friendly to other females, my heart would remain true to my partner. The outcome of the story didn't turn out the way I planned but at the end of it, that story revealed an unexpected result and that inspired me to write about it. It's funny how you look back at life and those little overlooked moments could give you a different viewpoint of what had transpired.
A few years ago, I was selling some stuff with my ex at her school fair. Beside our stall, there was this ice cream stall and we got friendly with them as both parties tried to sell stuff to each other. In that Ice-cream stall, there was this Ice Cream seller who was very easy to chat with and to have someone that click with in such an foreign environment was quite comforting (I couldn't really click that well with my ex frens... some of them not very nice, one even bet that we won't last 1 year together but I shall not digress anymore about that).
It might seem a bit too much that I was actually at the Ice Cream stall disturbing that Ice Cream seller and not helping out at my own stall. My excuse was that there weren't really anyone around then and my ex was chatting with her friend. After a while, I decided to return to pack up our stall and my Ex calmly came up to me and told me this
"My friend ask me why my bf is flirting with another girl in front of me?" and turn around to pack up the stall ...
Thinking about it (and my friend echo the same viewpoint too) ... she was pretty cool the way she handled the situation. My ex just walk away, not sulking or throwing a fit with me. Of course, I didn't realize I was flirting (in my books, I was just being friendly with a friendly girl) but thinking back now ... not many girls would have react the same way. Thinking back and visualizing that moment, I felt like giving her a nice warm hug (or should have done that in the past).
Anyway, I hope friends who read this post and had any misconception about me would understand by now that I am just being friendly. Not a playboy that you think I am ... actually I am more fragile than I look / you think : )

Why So Many ?
The Dark Knight Dvd will be hitting the retail stores soon and the US side will be having numerous exclusive releases per store franchise ...
so far the single disc very got a decent cover

While the 2 Disc version (which I want to get) got a horrible looking cover ... the batpod was cool when it appeared in the movie but having it as a cover is a totally different story ...

Now that the normal two disc cover is out for me ... I am looking at the "exclusive" from the big stores player in the USA ...
there will be one with the mini bat pod which is as equally desirable as the one above...
then there is the Batman with the Target one

I might get this if I get the Iron Man Mask version ... have both of them by each other but then again, it's not sitting well with my previous Batman Begin Lenticular Cover From Best Buy...
and Best Buy this year is releasing a Mask version ... not the awesome like V for Vendetta version ...

It looked more like Indy 4 type of not so nice looking ... and the Joker Mask here is as crucial to the story like the crystal skull in Indy 4 (which isn't much)
Finally, this evening, folks at Dvdtalk posted some of the other exclusive TDK that will be coming our way ...
First the Walmart with Dent's Coin (look closely at the bottom right hand corner). I think comes with a comic book too (much like my Batman Begin Dvd) and it seems that it's a 2 Disc without that ugly batpod cover ... I might be wrong but let's see how

Then there's the one which got me at Hello! hahaha

this one from Circuit City is by far the best looking cover of all the release I seen so far ... If I could only get one copy for TDK ... this should be it. But I will wait for the actual release and see which look better in actual untouched up picture. Might even wait for the buzz for the dvd to go down and try picking one cheap at Ebay (like my previous Batman dvd)
what's your pick ?
so far the single disc very got a decent cover

It looked more like Indy 4 type of not so nice looking ... and the Joker Mask here is as crucial to the story like the crystal skull in Indy 4 (which isn't much)
Finally, this evening, folks at Dvdtalk posted some of the other exclusive TDK that will be coming our way ...

the Boy with the Golden Mic

During the recent computer fair, I asked Chew Cher to pick up a budget dvd player so I can give my Mom a early Birthday Present ... also partly for them to let their grandson watch DVD so that they could have some free time from him.
What I didn't expect was that Chew Cher got one dvd player with Karaoke function and just the night before, Andrew had been performing for my parents and others at Woodlands. In the end, they were more excited about the Karaoke function than the dvd player itself! ... and I gotten a couple Dvds from Library for Andrew to watch but before the dvd player could come out of the box, the grandma/son team was busy seeking the Mic out.
The following videos would reveal what had happen in the evening
Andrew's version of "We are the Champions"
He sang this song for Ang Mo strangers before ! and although it's likely that he won't be able to win the "Don't Forget the Lyrics", his performance would probably charm your socks off

then he moved on to
Andrew sang Small Aeroplane
I liked the way he bend down for the song ... and he was moving forward to me that got me worried for a while ... I liked to capture his performance and was wondering how far back I could move (as I was already against the wall liao)
Andrew Sang Ni Wa Wa 泥娃娃
Watch the NG moments ... haha sometime such at hoc performance needs some last mins direction
Andrew sang Heaven is a Place on Earth - Take 1
Was kinda surprised that he know this song ... as again, the lyrics are everywhere ... : ) also watch out for the NG moments caused by my DAD : )
Andrew sang Heaven is a Place on Earth - Take 2 "the longer version"
The song again ! longer version ... had to wait a long while before he finally got to the extra part

IP Man is the Man
was just speaking to two fellow movie lovers and one of them told us that he is looking forward to catching Ip Man ... the Bruce Lee's teacher movie by Wilson Yip and Donnie Yen.

Personally, Wilson Yip's films had left me rather unimpressed and while Donnie Yen's Action Scenes are pretty good, his acting isn't that great either.
But I happen to chance across Ip Man's trailers at Mtimes, the frantic frenzy fighting just blew me away! and can see the "inspiration" for Bruce Lee's Japanese Occupation movie in this movie too ...

Feel like catching this just for the action sake
