The Magic Hour ザ・マジックアワー

From the maker of Welcome back Mr MacDonald, this comedy is about a small time gangster, Bingo who got caught sleeping with his boss girl. To get out of certain death, he lied about knowing a notorious hitman and was spared if he could bring the hitman to his boss. Lucky for Bingo, nobody knows how that hitman looks like and he knows Murata, a tough looking B-grade actor who loves to act.

Cant wait to see how this mess will work out : )

IP Man is the Man

was just speaking to two fellow movie lovers and one of them told us that he is looking forward to catching Ip Man ... the Bruce Lee's teacher movie by Wilson Yip and Donnie Yen.

Personally, Wilson Yip's films had left me rather unimpressed and while Donnie Yen's Action Scenes are pretty good, his acting isn't that great either.

But I happen to chance across Ip Man's trailers at Mtimes, the frantic frenzy fighting just blew me away! and can see the "inspiration" for Bruce Lee's Japanese Occupation movie in this movie too ...

who is Expendable?

It's not new news that Sylvester Stallone teaming up with Jason Statham and Jet Li for this movie call Expendable.

Basically The movie is about a team of Expendable mercenaries on a mission ..

What got me excited is that it's Sly the man mention at The Transporter 3 red carpet that they are close to getting Dolph "He-man / the original Punisher" Lundgren into the act as well !! it's become the B Grade Movie of the century! Now if they get Chuck Norris and / or Van Damme in ... it's will automatically be a Must Watch for me

I haven't been so enthralled by a Rat for a long long time and this fearless one got my heart when he refused to be program to fear. Drew pictures of Cat on his notebook : ) Just imagine if your kid drew a picture of Obama Osama on his notebook

I used to be a fan of WWF (before it became WWE but all the same, it's the Wrestling World) but given out after the sub par acting and increasingly numbers of unknown wrestlers got to me ... when I heard Darren Aronofsky and Mickey Rourke will be doing a movie about Wrestling, I kept my Radar tune to any news about this one ... Watching the trailer had just confirm it's Must Watch Status on my list.


The Last one was a disappointment and seeing that this one is made for 3D effects, I am not having high hopes for this one either but this trailer with Scat, his acorn and a female counterpart was just too heartbreakingly funny (Trailer D): )

Initially, I chuck this aside, thinking it was one of those quick cash in Christmas movie that had been done to death but surprisingly while watching the trailer before Choke, there were bits in it that made me laugh out loud ... tho there are parts i hope they won't drag it out in the actual movies, I kinda want to watch this

Still on the Robert Downey Jr. high ... plus Jamie Foxx and that good old tale of becoming friends with a crazy guy .... just can't get enough of these combo that coming faster than those drum games in arcade : )


Milk trailer gave me a feeling that Sean Penn is going to get nominated for Best Actor in many many upcoming awards.


Among all the trailers I caught this morning, Real Time was the most played one and it was becos of this one line that the assassin said to Andy the compulsive gambler when he begged to God for one more chance ...

"One more chance to do what ?"

well it was built on the previous line that he said

"making stupid bets, stupid choices ... that not bad luck, that just stupid"

I'm hooked on the angel of death concept, the last hour of one person's life angle and addiction in life, you know what's wrong but it's so hard to get rid of it



old recycled plot but Ricky Gervais's performance make it compelling for me to catch Ghosttown.

Coolest trailer of the week. Love the way they used one of the Smashing Pumpkins' track (which I can't remember the title of the song) to create that moody atmosphere with blazing visuals.

the song turned out to be "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" (I can sense one Smashing Pumpkin die hard fan sigh as she was about to msg me with the title but found out that I found the title liao ... thanks anyway ... nowadays its so easy to search the title out with the lyrics)

anyway the song was used for Batman and Robin OST ... yup the film that stink so bad that it nearly killed the franchise and still often do get mention when people rave about Batman Begins n The Dark Knight (yes ... people do like to compare shit and gold)

Mr Fan wonder if it's any indication to use this song for the trailer ... to which I felt that the director is trying to do what Director Nolan is doing (Mr Fan said Mr Nolan is showing both previous Batman directors that how Batman can be Dark and still effective in the Box Office ... aka took the toys they played with and made a masterpiece out of it) ... Mr Snyder might be doing that too, show that an awesome song used for a crappy flick can be reborn and compliment a better flick.

Cant tell much yet ... gotto wait till 20 months later

007 got me excited again

Never ever would I expect to find myself so excited by the James Bond franchise but this reboot had done something to energise this franchise. There's something raw yet smooth (vulnerable yet almost invincible) feel to this new series and the direct continuation from the previous movie made it more intriguing to find out more about the James Bond adventures ...

and the movie title ... sound so scientific yet so poetic ... I think I'm already positively biased to Quantum of Solace liao

Holy Bat Toys

Yeah ... the Bat Fad is coming soon ... and while shopping at a nearby supermarket, I found that the cereal box are packing toys from the Dark Knight.... Although not as nice as the Iron man Toy that I gotten, I just couldn't pass the Joker up

Looking at the back of the Box, I saw this guy wearing suit and had a hood over his head ... initially I thought it was Mr Dent with a Hood to cover his secret up but looking at the character title, I was kinda surprise to find that it's actually Scarecrow

Kinda Outdated right ?? to be included in the Dark Knight range of toys? but speaking to Stefan, it turned out that it could be that ...

Scarecrow might be in The Dark Knight too !!! there are rumours about it and some folks got pictures of it somewhere online .... if that's true, then it will at least make sense to include the Scarecrow

don't know why, I want to keep away from all news from The Dark Knight after the spoilish new trailer but this discover kinda got me all excited !

oh and it's cheaper .. only $5+ compared to the Ironman toy that cost $8+

something worth staying alive for

Saw 5 poster was out today at imdb. It seems that the Saw movie won't be missing a release this year after all. Not only the release date is like a tradition for Saw movies, the kickass posters continue to amaze me too ... check them out ... from the upcoming Saw 5 to the 1st Saw ... given that this is only the teaser poster, I hope they will release another poster that will have something to represent the number 5

Ultramen Alert

Fans of Ultraman (like Stefan, Andrew & Me) who can't get enough of the Ultra team up in the last Ultraman 40th Anniverary Celebration Movie, Ultraman Mebius & Ultraman Brothers, it seems that our wish for more such Ultramen Teamup is coming true!

Not 3, Not 4 but 8 Ultramen in one Movie !!! The Super 8 Ultra Brothers will features Ultraman Mebius, the four senior Ultraman Brothers, (Ultraman, Ultraman 7, Ultraman Ace and Ultraman Jack) and Ultraman TDG (Tiga, Dyna and Gaia).

But not all news are good news. First of all, It would be preferable that the focus would be on the newer Ultraman but it seems that the lead Ultraman in this movie would be Ultraman Tiga which was rather disappointing. FYI, Ultraman Tiga's human role is played by a member of V6, a J-Pop group and I believed that guy will be back and V6 will be providing the theme song ....

I feel that it's because the Ultra 4 brothers did very well in box office so that guy from V6 decided to return to cash in on the buzz ... I am not sure how popular V6 is in Japan but for folks like me, I don't really like to see such creative inputs from a pop band (unless they are from SMAP)

Then the storyline which I found at Wiki .... tsk tsk, they are reusing one of the plotline from Ultraman Gaia's movie where there parallel universe and normal folks who wish to be like their TV superhero finally gotten their chance after some crossing over ... tsk tsk tsk sound like a bad idea to me

Nevertheless, let's hope that this movie is more in line with the 40th Anniversary Movie and eventually makes it's way to Singapore in one format or the other. I am sure there's at least one young Ultraman fan who will cream his pants when he read this news! (trouble is that it's too late now and it's his nap time)

and while browsing kfccinema, I got detour to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly Weird trailer ... had lukewarm interest in it but the trailer look pretty good ... and then .. holy fuck!!! Lee, Byung-Hun is in it !!! That Korean Actor that I will turn gay for and will pay to watch him read the phone directory on the big screen ... Holy Cow !!! he is in this weird Asian playing cowboys flick and come to think of it ... it's good to keep the Western genre from dying and disappearin for good.
