My Seventh Online DVD purchases : Almost too Darn Early !!!

I wasn't expecting it but when I heard the door bell ... I got a feeling that it was here ... the one that I been seeking for is finally here!

it's been a long search ... ebay was selling 2nd hand at very high price ... I even got one before but the insert inside had one of its corner cut out and I just can't accept it ... sold it off and when to search for that perfect one again !!!

of cos a brand new Almost Famous Bootleg Dvd would be too darn pricey for me to afford until someone at Dvdtalk forum posted the alert that Amazon has it for sale again ... yeah brand new and at a price that will put most ebay 2nd sale to shame !

but the catch is that the Amazon cancelled orders before only to re list it as available ... (quite a tease isn't it) since there wasn't much harm done, I brought Stefan along and we both purchased the Dvds (to lessen the shipping cost for one to bear) and after weeks of waiting ... it was shipped and was expecting it to reach after 20th July ...

but hey hey hey !!! it's 20th days too early !!!!

when i got the package .. i was thinking it was too small a package to contain 2 Almost Famous Bootleg but after opening it, good things do come in small packages : ) hehehe

The thing is that now my long search is over ... there is this sense of unsatisfaction ... and I can't bear to open it (as in the Tenacious D POD Delux Box Set) ... Sometimes, I find it hard to please myself

I knew it was coming ... but that wasn't the reason that I went to get the Newspaper ... (was for Sudoku if you want to know) and I flipped thru to get to what I want and I was pleasantly surprise to find this ad in colour ... (before I could get to wat I was searching for)


Yes I m such a media whore now ... tv, dvd cover n now newspaper ad .... I think I can die liao, I have accomplished all I hoped for

the price between friendship

Was arguing with Linus on who the local distributor for the Japanese Movie "Love and Honour"

He kept insisting that it was Scorpio East and I kept insisting that it's Poh Kim until the argument got so heated that he took out his wallet and slammed a 50 dollars onto the table

"I said it's Scorpio East"

I looked at him ... took the 50, nod my head and replied "Ok, it's Scorpio East"

He was very puzzled and explained to me that he was placing a 50 dollars bet with me on the identity of the distributor for "Love and Honour"...

I told him I thought he was buying my conviction : )

Andrew's Ultraman

recently, Ultraman had a 40th anniversary celebration with a movie that was only released in the Dvd format in Singapore ... when I saw bits of it, it was a jolly good old time to relive my past

since it was rather cheap, only 18 bucks, I got one copy for Andrew to see if he will like it or not ... there's indication he might since he liked Jet Li's Fearless , Ultraman might just be up his alley ...

and I was wrong .... it wasn't like ... it was LOVE !!! I lost the number of times that he watched this movie already .... he liked it so much that whenever he misbehave, I could use Ultraman as a leverage!

Throw things around ... No Ultraman for you!

I think he liked it so much, he hid it under the piano chair but forgotten about it ... making me n his grandma search for hours !



anyway, I happen to see his artwork recently and quite amused at how he colour his version of Ultraman

Almost witness someone got knock down

Was on my way to Sommerset MRT to collect free newspaper ... I stopped at a traffic light and noticed there a average looking girl listening to headphone, waiting at the opposite side ... since I wasn't in a rush, I stood and studied the surrounding (the buildings, not the girl !)

Suddenly I heard a Loud screech and saw that a Taxi almost hit that lady who is crossing the road

First thing that came into my mind was that what the hurry? why did the lady suddenly jaywalk after waiting for the traffic light to turn green ... and then i noticed as the taxi zoom off ... it was already green light and it was the taxi that tried to beat the lights ...

The lady gave the taxi the hand ... i'm pretty sure she wanted to give the finger but there certain image one must present so .... as I was walking pass her, I was thinking to myself ... "I could have seen you die right in front of me" or badly injured ... your life just pass me by and instead of being grateful or fearful of what just happened, you gave the taxi "the hand" ?

Even Reality Shows get Pirated

Just saw an ads on StarTv and oh boy ... what a lame rip off from Survivor and Pirates of the Caribbean ... are they running out of ideas for reality shows ? or are there too much love for the POTC series ?? either ways, it just sound like a cheesy bad idea

Hello There K800i, Goodbye Raz

Finally ... I'm getting a New Phone ! Hoooray!!!! been troubled with problems with the last one's battery until I was told by quite a few frens to change my phone ... well budget problems and phone plan problems made me hold back till this long ...

Well finally, someone in my family has a phone plan that is free to be used for getting a 2 yr new plan : ) and I been doing some research on the phone I want ...

Ultimately, I want a phone that got at least 3.2 mega pixel for photo taking and I don't really care much about the mp3 storage or music quality for phone. There are two brands models that I'm interested ... either Nokia N73 or Sony Ericsson K800i but after playing my friends' phone, I felt that Ericsson got better picture quality and price wise, due to the release of the new k810i, it was $100 cheaper than Nokia so therefore derive my decision.

Cramp n nearly died in the pool

nahhhhhhhhh not tat serious but people at public swimming pool are getting up my nerves

I was doing the last few laps of free style and giving all my mights when suddenly a figure started to bobbing in front of me .... Had to jam break to prevent crashing into him

that jam break resulted in major cramp ... and it's excruciatingly painful that I never felt for a long time ....

for a moment, i panic for a while ....with both hands holding and massaging my right leg ... i begun to sink ... then i have to slowly release my cramp leg n slowly swim to the side .... heng i did this few laps new the side (all this while, I was wondering why no lifeguard jump into the pool to rescue me!)

and while this happen .... when i was resting by the side n staring at that guy ... he got no idea that what he did to me ... I was so tempted to shout at him on what he had just done but in the end, i gave up that thought ....

"Haiz! it's a swimming pool !! not a bobbing pool ! Cant u go bob at one corner ?"

But it's a public pool and I just got to put up this type of people ... almost every trip to the pool, I will encounters this type of people until I could come up with a list of assholes in the swimming pool ... maybe I should just crash into them and bring them down with me ... see who can hold his breath longer

Catch > it's Canada so shipping it over would be more challenging than getting it from USA

and I got a feeling that the US branch will have it too ... Got till 31st July to decide

Hope it will be as hot as the V for Vendetta's special edition too

My Seventh Online DVD purchases : Almost Famous shipped !

I just gotten an email from Amazon ... the Almost Famous Bootleg edition Dvd had just been shipped!!! I was half expecting that they will cancel the order cos 1) it was Out of print for a long time and 2) they cancel other ppl order for it before !!!

and hey hey hey ! now they msg me to tell me ... its been shippped on 20th June 2007 ! which is our 21st .... and expected date of arrival will be 20-July-2007 (yeah .. one month later cos i used the cheapest shipping ... hope its just slow and not carelessly handled)

let the waiting game continue ...

Was at Shu Qi's My Wife is a Gangster 3 Press Con and this time round, I'm in Photo duties ... after the major press con was over, She was walking to the small room for one on one interview and due to the narrow passageway, she got to pass by me ... We made eyes contact and I made room for her to pass ... when she was walking by, I was pretty sure she smile at me : )

Finally TIO MDA part 2

Couldn't wait, I just had to pop by MDA today .... Even tho the person that I spoke to earlier told me to come back tmr cos she isn't sure that she received my package yet ....

Strange right cos I got the letter and it was backdated to the 14 June

Anyway, the trip down wasn't as bad as I was expecting ... I thought I was going to be irritated and might just flare up at them for all the stupid red tapes but surprisingly, my temper was kept in check and I actually enjoyed my trip down

It turned out that the package is here already and I could have fax them a copy to allow them to open the package without my presence (like I will let them happen), helping me save 1 extra trip down to MDA

After opening the package, there are some surprising manner that MDA works ...

First of all, the one that I was expecting the most amount of stickers turn out to exempted from censorship! YUP documentaries are exempted ... meaning I could take Planet Earth back on the day itself ! but in my mind, I was wondering, what if it's a documentary on sex or the dirt on censorships? will it get exempted too ??

Then cartoon and animation are exempted too !! but if it's from Japan! It will have to go thru censorship !!! hahaha yeah too much hentai anime floating around so spoil market ! tsk tsk tsk double standard huh ... cant America come up with Adult content animation ??

Oh if they dont have it in their database, then gotto open the package to their viewing "pleasure" .... heng dont have to pay them to view or I will vomit blood. Have to wait for at least another 7 working days before they are done viewing ...

CDs are exempted!!! Can take back on the spot ... YUP U can bring in all sort of anti-christ CD or other cds that contain all the F words or have corruption tendency and MDA won't mind : )

If U happen to have a R21 Dvds, they will likely offer to destroy ur Disc for u before letting u know of the other options ! tsk tsk tsk .... U have the option to ship it out via asking Singpost to come collect & export for u ( which u have to pay for !!! see! they work together).

Alternatively You can seek out friend who will be traveling overseas within the next 3 months via plane and ask them to carry it out for U. All you need from them is a copy of their air ticket & passport for collection of the banned disc from MDA, 2 days before ur friend fly off ! YUP only 2 days window!!! They have to hand over a letter to the custom so that the custom ppl can verify that they had brought the disc out and they will fax the info back to MDA . MDA said they won't be disturbed on their way back (i.e body search) but that to wait and see.

Then there's the efficiency issue with MDA. Most of the movies are available for sale in Singapore shops so they actually have their titles on their database and they could easily check n sell me those awful stickers so i could get on with my life ... BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I must come back another day to collect the discs ... it's like they die die must make u collect another day !!! argh! bloody rigid

Lastly, it's one sticker per movie and not per disc so ... not too ex .. and the sticker cost abt $1.80 so it's still way cheaper compared to the retail stores here.

Overall, it's not that bad ordeal after all ... Will be doing online dvd purchases again but I'll thinking of ways to go around the system ...

at least I get to go home with Planet Earth and The Fountain Cd soundtrack

Finally TIO MDA

haiz Gotten the letter that I hope I wont be getting ... the Singpost letter to inform me that my dvds are at MDA ... argh !!!

I already got a feeling that my Dvds will be stopped by MDA but this time round, I feel it's Singpost sending it to them becos I never use Vpost to ship my DVDS !!! conspiracy theories I tell U!

anyway called them up and lamented to them that it's really a waste of my time!

Was at Maggie Q Die Hard Press Con this morning ... was in charge of the video duties (that was asigned at the very last min) and tired my best to capture as much as I could of this Hollywood Star (which strangely, I don't believe was even a Hong Kong actress at all)

So when the Press Con for the mass media was over ... they were setting up for the one on one interview for the major media and I linger a bit longer, trying to get some more exclusive video of her and then ... our eyes met for a while and she look down and smile like a shy girl ... hehehe that smile of her really melt my heart hehehe , but I think She might be thinking "ohhhhhhh I got another fan swaning over my beauty and can't take his eyes off me, so amusing" (look down and smile)

Was suppose to preview a hk movie today and tried looking for my usual suspect pals to join me but turn out that most of them caught it in HK during the recent film fest or they are simply not interested in HK movies

and then there's another fren who gotto give a fridge to give to a colleague who is leaving

After repeated rejections ... I finally found this old pal to go with me ... but i keep getting this stinking feeling that I will still end up watching it alone ...

Then it happened ! I was running late and when i rushed out, I took an object that i thought was my phone but halfway to our meeting point, I realize it wasnt the phone!Too late for me to turn back now so I prayed that he will be at the meeting point at the time we fixed

but he wasn't ... i tried waiting for him .. just in case he was late but I couldn't wait anymore or I will miss to much of the movie which i needed to review ... so bo bian had to depart to the cinema ...

I felt so bad for him ... also don't know how to apologise to him

Will Anything Last Long?

Anything ( plus Whatever )... the two gimmicky drinks by a former golf company ... after viewing their aggressive and cheeky type of ads (which wasn't that funny to me), i finally gotto drink it tonight and my verdict is ... it won't last long

It's does have a good way of selling brand name and making the potential market remember this brand but if the drink itself isn't nice, I dont think it will last ...

Although it played with the notion that people here are very chin chye (anything also can) here, I still believe that they still want to have a choice in what they want to drink or what they don't want to drink ... one of the can that I opened contain the lemon aid flavour and I wasn't seeking for a sour feeling that day

diversity wise ... what else can they do with their Anything Whatever drink ? Coke came up with Lime and Pepsi came up with Lemon Twist ... what could they do when the customers have no option to choose the type of drinks that they are getting ?

I expect that by 2 years time, it will fade off from the market

Stung by a big fucking wasp

Was in my room and when I crossed my arms ... I felt damn painful !!! wah liew!!! I looked down and saw a big flying black insect on my arm ... taking a closer look and saw that it's needle tail had impaled into my arm ... pretty much like and injection ...

I had to swat it away twice before finally getting it off me ...

It was damn painful ... i think the bug hit my vein ... because it was bleeding inside while the skin surrounding the entry hole swell up like a mosquito bite ...

after a while, my limbs all felt numb and aching .... I just hope it's not poisonous ... went out to inform my parents that the sting and how I'm not feeling well and they just nodded and when on to watch their tv programme ...

before i left them, i told them ... just in case anything would to happen to me ... at least u will know what took my life

the most qi ke thing was ... i couldnt find the insect afterword ... meaning it's still alive !!! darn

Update ! (30th June 07) ... oh I went to search online and thru Wikipedia ... I found the insect that bit me ...

Xiong Di again ?

My Mate from Perth just asked me ... to be one of his Groomsmen (aka Xiong DI ???)

Was quite honoured about it ... cos the other two Groomsmen would be his brother and another his best friend in Perth ...

I believe there won't be sabotage like the local wedding (plus the bride's family doesn't seem to be too Chinese anymore "groom to be's exact words") and the duties included should be photo shoot and etc

My Mate also let me in that the girl I had a crush on before I left Perth for "Good" will be one of the bridesmaid !!! hahaha what luck ! finally bridesmaids that are not attached or married like my previous experience in this type of "suffering"

and he is going to provide me with the suit attire !!! hehehe another notch above the previous two wedding !! the minus bit was that it will be on rental ... tsk tsk tsk cant bring it back like the bridesmaid ... and i gotto go early to try the suit out (not that I mind about that as I was planning to go there early to do some Perth activities)

the best bit of our conversation was when he revealed that it was his wife to be's idea to ask me to be his groomsmen ... kinda touch cos I only met her a couple of times in Perth : )

yeah so mark your calender ... I won't be in town on the first week of April next year

It's almost 2 years ago since the last time I had a go at the DeepDiscount 20% sale and after holding back for so long, I think I almost burst my bank for this one ... the order this time as follow ...

got a couple of dvds are for my frens and the rest are mine ... didn't want to buy so many but because of shipping, in order to spread the cost, I gotten a few cheaper titles ... See any titles u like up there? hmmm can borrow from me if the one u want to borrow belongs to me

and now Deep Discount merged their CD dept together with the Dvd dept ... I gotten a few to show my "support" ...

the best deal was the Tenacious D Pick of Destiny Deluxe Package which cost abt 50 bucks here ... there a mega sale for it and it work out about $21 sin dollars (exclude shipping)


hmmm Tenacious D n Save the Last Dance 2 being back ordered when I made the order ... hope it won't be delay too long or canceled !

I thought they weren't going to have it this year since they merged that CD and Books Dept together and normally the sale will take place during the month of MAy ...

But thankfully with Cpt Kip's questions ... it was brought to my attention that IT"S HERE !!!
