PASTA de WARAKU @ The Central

What a way to end the year ... super duper nice dinner at one of my favourite pasta joint in Singapore ... yup ... Pasta de Waraku. If I ever have to order the last meal, the Scallop and Prawn Pizza will be it ... the taste of Scallop melting in my mouth with the thin crisp pizza base ... yum

However, I also made the mistake of ordering too much ... specially the Oyster and Baccon Carbonara Pasta ... think it gave me stomach upset later on and I gotto wait till the food goes down then I can function properly.

the start of my home theatre dreams

I am officially fueled to get my own projector cum home theatre speaker system !

It's always been a thought that I been harbouring ... but tonight is the night that I am pretty sure what I want to get for my eventual home theatre system ....

Loki came over with his fren's speaker to test with my Dvd player cum Amplifier system with speakers so see if everything working fine ... let just say it went great!

Although it's not the top end speaker/amp system ... it still sound bloody cool to me ... and even tho it was not equipped with a subwoofer ... the bass that this two long speakers generated was quite awesome ... specially when I pop the THX test system (which was found in my Cheap T2 Dvd), the cross feed test brought a smile on my face twice !! hearing how the sound run around from left to right and behind me ... getting louder (but not piercing loud) until the window panels started to vibrate : ) ... it already felt like a mini theatre to me liao !

then come the projector !

I tell u ... movies are meant to be watched big big !!! although my room tv is considered by most to be rather big ... it's still not siok enough to watch movie in !!!

watching a movie projected on to my room wall was a defining moment on my choice of visual equipment in the future ... it's no brainer, unless I can get a plasma tv as wide as my wall ... it's going to be a projector !

We went on to test a few movies ... choosing scenes that would really perform the speakers and visuals ... scenes like the classic Forrest Gump war scene, the lobby shoot out in Matrix, the Contact's ball drop (even the openning sequence was amazing becos of the sound coming from all direction) and plenty more .... needless to say, it was a blast for me

Loki left the projector at my place so I could bring all the equipment to the Christmas Chalet and I couldn't wait to show my folks "the home theatre" in my room.

When my mom saw the set up and Terminator 2 playing at my room door, the first thing she said was "Buy it"!

That caught me off guard as I wasn't expecting that and I was in fact preparing to show her more of what the setup could do ... she not even standing at the right area to even start appreciating it.

Then she ask ... how much it cost and keep repeating the line "Buy it"

I was quite touched and about to tell her how much it might cost when she said this

"I am sure Andrew will like it"

Was slightly disappointed that there wasn't any dvds arriving yesterday but today the mother load of the dvds packaged all came together !!

The Cube Dvd was dislodged from it's holder which made it a great excuse to rip open the cd to check for scratches ... Patch Adams was exactly the edition that I wanted but there were multiple pauses and hanging when I played on my Pioneer Dvd Player.

Mei's second batch of dvds are all here too ... funny thing is that the X File Movie Dvd is still not here yet

and finally ... the bulk of Shaiful's stuff
Shaiful's American Beauty was missing in this batch ... Just before I fire off an email to DDD, I realized that the invoice had some cancelation via pen .... would just wait to see what's going to happen next..

The amazing bit was that almost all the major batches had all escaped the MDA detour .... hooo hooo !!! Everyone saved 1.80 per title !!! Now just left with a couple more dvds and that all folks! See you next May / June

As usual, one of the reason I love going to KL is that my KL tour guide will bring me to great Makan Joint in KL ... and this trip, I was introduced to Kim Gary ... a restaurant that served Hong Kong style food which to me means a lot of cheese baked stuff

Surprise Surprise ... it's here ... the second batches that were shipped on the 3rd Dec 07 were sitting in my post box

Given that yesterday's batch was shipped on the 23rd Nov ... I was kinda expecting that it will take at least 10 more days before the second batches reach and most likely to be after Christmas but but but they are all here and the best bit is ... everyone save 1.80 per title !

as far as the sky's edge, as near as next door

Was at the Warlords press con and while waiting for our turn to interview Andy Lau and Xu Jinglei, I overheard some ladies who were there to attend a Cosmetic Christmas event giggling about Andy Lau's presence and they were hopping that they might bump into him at the corridor (which is not impossible as he did leave the interview room to go for toilet and there's a chance to intercept him for photo opportunities, handshake and other stuffs)

In my mind, I was wondering what if you attend an event in a hotel function room and yet you are not even aware that your favourite star is just in the next function room, just one door away from you ... it will be so close yet so far and if it's not fated, a door can mean a world away

Then there this group of ladies who were entering the Cosmetic Function room and one of them look rather familiar .... (my eyes were rather blurry because I was so tired from rushing a video clip the night before n this morning) ... taking a close look, it turn out to be my poly friend

and not just any poly friend ... she was my crushee ... I had the longest crush on her during my poly days before I eventually got attached with my first serious gf...

She didn't really had time for small talk but meeting up in such manner left a bittersweet feeling ... it's nice bumping to her but then i wonder if our group gotten to interview the artist earlier, I won't get to meet her and all it took was just one door to be one world away

Checking my Email this evening, I was rather happy to see two emails from DDD !!! Cos it might be that the third package been shipped too !!!

The first Email I read was for CUBE (SIGNATURE SERIES)... it's my Dvd from the Second Batch ... was a bit sian about it but there's still the second email from them and like a poker player, I slowly reveal the content of the second email and it turn out to be .........

The third batch !!! hehehe well not all of them but at least more of the dvds are seeing a glimspe of hope that they might just reach before XMas and this Santa Claws can give out more jolly (but not FREE) PREZ to the good old kids...

Just after watching The HeartBreak Kid, which featured one henpecked husband who was kept on a modern leash (aka via a handphone) by his wife , my friend picked up the phone to call his girlfriend that I quickly identify as The Leash and made this comment

"So your gf also keep on you a leash huh?"

"at least I got one ... do you have a leash ???"

While planning a trip with my friend during the CNY, he brought up the dangers of traveling to a "not so advance and safe" country. I replied to him that in life, if it's meant to be, that no escaping, so don't worry too much.

To which, he started telling me this story about a monk traveling down a mountain / hill in a van. The driver was driving dangerously close to the edge of the winding road in a racing speed and it seems that every so often, the whole van might just drive off the mountain/hill.

The Monk then tell the driver to drive safely and slow down.

The Driver then told the Monk, "In Life, everything's fated and in God's hand... if you are meant to die by falling off the mountain, it's just meant to be"

at this point, I asked my friend ... so was the Monk "enlighten" by the Driver's reply

my friend's reply was ....




"FUCK YOU !!! if I die, it was because of your DRIVING SKILL"

While checking email for the morning, I was quite happy to see that there another email from DDD .... hopping that maybe the bulk of the third batch had been shipped but it turn out that it was the last dvd from the first batch had been shipped ... that right Stefan, Ur Backdraft is on it's way to ur imac (tho it will probably be facing a backlog of traffic with other dvds that you havent watch before reaching the disc drive)

after almost 10 days (from when the order was made) and just before I was going to give them a call... DDD finally shipped the second batch of the recent dvd purchases made in the 20% discount sale.

but only MEMENTO, X FILES-5TH SEASON, PAN'S LABYRINTH (2D) , DVD : HAIRSPRAY (SE) , THE UNTOUCHABLES, ELECTION, BATMAN BEGINS (2D/SE) had been shipped

Music and Lyrics & The X-Files: Fight the Future's status became OPEN from their previous BackOrder status but strangely weren't shipped together with the first of the second batch.

Across The Universe (Deluxe Edition), CUBE and BACKDRAFT (from both the first (first) batch and the second (first) batch) are still listed under BackOrder ... Let's pray together ... the third batch will be shipped soon and they will all somehow reach before Xmas ...

so I ran 10 KM

*huh ?? but the pictures look like it's 2007!!! dont worry, this post is 1 year late ... i didn't get to post it last year and finally got to do it before the up coming run ... will archive it in time to come*

It might not be a big deal to some but someone who dread the 2.4km and only done cross country in a half walk / half jog mode ... this is a big deal for me

Took 1 hours 23 mins and 45 secs to finish.

I was a bit late but thought the race haven't started as there are plenty of people still gathering around the start point. But as it got later, something didn't feel right and I went to the start line and realized the race had started! those people waiting around are the females waiting for their race that's starting in half hour time. Yes as blur as someone who haven't really wake up yet.

The run wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Haven't been training that much before the race but surprisingly I managed to keep in the jogging mode thru out the race (tho there were moments when I think walking would be faster than my extremely slow jogging).

There were plenty of people to over take which served as a motivational boost. Saw a lot of people giving up and were just walking instead of jogging. These people are in better shape than me and I don't understand why did they pay for this event but walked instead of jog?

I was also lucky to run beside this uncle who got a pacing watch. His pace and that ticking watch helped me to maintain a steady pace until the 7km - 8km mark that I wasn't able to keep up anymore.


I wasn't sure if my knees could take such pounding for such a long time but weirdly, it was my ankles that felt dislodged. After the 8km mark, I could feel my ankles's bone no in sync with my feet. It's not painful but it definitely doesn't feel right.

Checking the Stand Chart website, I also found it funny that I crossed the finish line with a guy call Victor too ... cos the Victor below is the guy who got me to take part in this run

Overall, it was a great experience finishing something that felt like a tall deal for me. The run left a great feeling and I Will be running again next year : ) either to break my "record" / timing or take on the 21km

i survive the 10km ...

yup ... my ankles felt like they are breaking but I never felt so alive before .... 10km came and gone ... after all that, I actually want to run somemore ... maybe next year ... maybe 21 km
