Crushing a Butterfly with wheels

While watching Shattered (Starring Pierce Brosnan, Maria Bello and Gerard Butler ) today, I came across this term, “Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel" which sort of mean going through a lot of effort in achieving very little ... a quote that was said to be rather common but it's the first time that I came across

haiz on a personal level, this is what I been feeling nowadays with work ... feel so tired but yet achieved so little

nevertheless, I thought it was a pretty good film ... and tho I didn't catch it in the cinema, it's one of the contender for top ten this year ..

One of the best films that I almost overlook due to it's very formulaic plot line but after viewing it, I was swept away by it's emotional performance, frenetic pacing that kept me hook on every surprises and the final turnout which supposedly minor turn out to be more affecting that I could ever guess ... good stuff I say

a couple of trailers to fall in love with

might sound a bit biased but I think I will love Johnnie To's upcoming Sparrow base on the trailer ...
Sparrow
Thanks to the Golden Rock

and while browsing kfccinema, I got detour to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly Weird trailer ... had lukewarm interest in it but the trailer look pretty good ... and then .. holy fuck!!! Lee, Byung-Hun is in it !!! That Korean Actor that I will turn gay for and will pay to watch him read the phone directory on the big screen ... Holy Cow !!! he is in this weird Asian playing cowboys flick and come to think of it ... it's good to keep the Western genre from dying and disappearin for good.

Quote from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

As I remembered it ... might not be exact word for word but here's the gist of it

Marion Ravenwood: "I am sure you got plenty of women after me"

Indiana Jones: "Yeah but they all got the same problem"

Marion Ravenwood: "What's that?"

Indiana Jones: "They are not you"

and we see Marion's face brighten up .... most charming line from this movie

Mr "Dvd Cover" of the year

Warning: Another Self Raving Rant, please shift your eyes else where if you can't stand to See Richard congratulate himself

Was told by Mx Webmaster that my rating for a recent HK film, THREE KINGDOMS: RESURRECTION OF THE DRAGON was used on a Dvd cover ... although it didn't feature my Name, it was branded under Mx and both of us know that I'm the guilty one

Dvd Cover supplied by Kind Webmaster of Mx

After telling me, both of us went down to one of the nearest store to check out the rating on the cover and seeing it for real, send a pleasant feeling swelling in me ... yeah I know I been called a "sell out" and my rating was considered "overrated" by some but it felt good to see my contribution for Mx made to the cover ....

Then something hit me ! nooooo not a ball (tsk tsk tsk ... I can read ur mind k) Among all the Mx reviews, mine was the one that featured on a Dvd cover the most. First for Cold Shower (got my name n quote) ... then The Banquet (just my quote under Mx banner) and now my ratings on Three Kingdoms ... My peers only got one each : ) hehehe "officially" I'm peerless when it come to getting Mx on the Dvd Covers

so proud that I call myself Mr "Mx Dvd Cover" of the year ! right beside my Mr "One Liner" .... hahhahaha now shhhhhhhhhoooo, let me bask in my 15 secs of glory

I finally found my Venus

flytrap (that is)

Been wanting to want this since Poly Days when some folks were selling them during those special Thursday... Hesitated in getting them and been looking for it eversince and finally, after a makan session at Hong Lim Complex, a lucky encounter and I came across this florist that actually sells Venus Flytrap (the best bit was that it was even cheaper than what was offered during the Poly Funfair days)
Can't wait to see it in action!

Auntie Kim's Korean Restaurant @ Upper Thomson Rd

Been craving from Korean BBQ food eversince the KL Trip I took recently (haven't blog it yet but it's coming soon) and since my Makan Kaki was here, we went to explore what the Local Korean Restaurant is able to offer in terms of Authentic Korean Food (a running joke that kept popping in my mind is that Seoul Garden, the first ambassador of Korean food in Singapore is actually not very Korean)

This time round, we didn't use the ieatishootipost blog for suggestion in Korean food in Singapore ... cos there isn't much about it in that blog. Did a search at Yahoo! SG and Auntie Kim's Korean Restaurant was mention a couple of times and it seems that it was quite good so we head down to my old school area to try if it's a place that we can fall in love with

Consumed >

The Korean Side Dishes

Yangnyum Kalbi (Beef With Special Sauce)

Hae Mool Jeon (Pan Cake with Seafood)

Goodies > The Beef was quite good. Yummmy butter-ly feel to it and strangely, I prefer to eat it on it's own, without the sauce or vegetable wrapping. Tho I was a bit upset that I didn't get to BBQ it on my own, I must admit that I might not have gotten it cook so nicely as the chef had at the Kitchen. The Pan Cake tasted like waffles with a savoury touch.

A little side story of discover ... after watching and digging the Korean movie "Le Grand Chef", I was thrilled to find out that they also served the soup that made a King cried. Didn't ordered it as there was too much food ordered already. ... maybe next time.

Yuckies > There are a couple of disappointing issues that marred my visit to Auntie Kim. First and foremost, I was told that I need to order two portion of BBQ meat before they allow us to do our own BBQ at the table. A major let down compared to what I had at KL.

The side dishes also pale in comparison with the KL one that I been to. There were more variety to stuff my Vegetable / Beef Combo and side dishes to snack on.

Cost > $27 for Yangnyum Kalbi (Beef With Special Sauce) & $16 for Hae Mool Jeon (Pan Cake with Seafood)
Returning (?) > I like to try other Korean Restaurants but if I need to get my Korean food fix urgently, I wouldn't mind coming down to Auntie Kim again.

Al-Ameen Eating House @ Bukit Timah

After watching Le Grand Chef, my overseas Makan buddy and I was hungry again ... even tho we just had dinner long ago ... did a bit of research on ieatishootipost blog and found an entry for 24hours makan in Singapore ... the pictures were tempting enough to make up our mind to head down to Bukit Timah for some Indian Naans

Consumed >

Tissue Prata

In the Basket: Naans, Garlic Naans & Cheese Onion Naans
The Orange Sauce: Panner Butter Masala Indian Cheese Butter Sauce
The Green Sauce: Palak Panner Spinach wit Indian Cheese and Onion Garlic

Goodies > Well The Naans were fabulous as I remember having back in Australia. I used to avoid Indian food beside the prata as I had the conception that Indian food are mainly spicy. Friend convinced me otherwise and I really enjoyed dipping the Naans into the creamy sauce. Haven't had the chance to try local Naans for the longest time and this was an excellent chance for me to relive the enjoyment of devouring Naans ....

Overall, it's as good as ieatishootipost recommend ... but personally, I prefer the Garlic Naans over the Cheese / Onion. The sauce wise, I felt the same as the Panner Butter Sauce was siok to every last drop .... sour, creamy and rich ... just like I love it ..

Yuckies > as per ieatishootipost, the Palak Panner Sauce was a let down ... Buddy complained that it wasn't as nice as the ones Malaysia offered and I agreed ... while constantly dipping in the sauce that I had order and push the green bowl over ...

I was told that In KL, sauce comes free and I tried to ask the friendly "manager" if it's the same here... but nope, it cost $7 bucks here (yup 1 buck more than when the post was made in ieatishootipost) ... and the greedy me sort of over ordered and the whole supper cost more than what I had expected ... heng got ATM nearby

Cost > $1 to $2.50 for the Naans / Cheese n Garlic ones. $7 Bucks for the Sauce

Returning (?) > Yeah but will not order that many sauces this time round ... sadly, can't explore the other sauces available

Einstein Diss Religion

Einstein's musings about religion sells for $400K
Just when I felt like taking up a religion, I came across this article ....tho i m not as smart, I feel that religion is just a manner that human use to comfort each other during bad times .... that's my 2 cents worth ...

It's not easy to get thru alone or without the belief that there a greater power at work ... or what's going wrong now will be ok later ... or a chance of happier afterlife afterward

Last Breathe

The first Kim Ki Duk film that I was actually emotionally affected ... I liked his previous works, Time and Spring Summer Fall Winter ... and Spring but they were never so personally enjoyable like others

a film that I felt provided enough ingredient for the viewers to cook out some perspective of their own in this flick about adultery and life in the death row. it might be a bit quirky but there's some underlying message behind what Kim Ki-Duk is trying to say and if you listen to it hard enough, you will find it.

Watching you Breathing

As strong as you were, tender you go
I'm watching you breathing, for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home.

Overheard it on the radio on my way back ... at first the chorus make me think of someone that had departed from my life ... then when I was able to listen to this song for a couple of time on youtube and reading the lyrics, I realized this song was more suitable for my Uncle and his daughter

The Overpriced Toy I wanna get

Object image might look bigger than it actually is Object is the same size as the above image

After watching the "not so nice" Speed Racer, I went down to GV snack bar area to wait for Loki and Stefan who are watching in another cinema .... and I came across this Iron Man toy that I actually don't mind forking out 9 bucks for their overpriced popcorns n coke for.

It's actually War Machine but I thought it's pretty cool ...
Just Imagine it says: "Repulsor Rays" and shoot a beam of ray across .... nuff' said

the cordless wonder

I broke the antenna of my house's only cordless phone that's connected to the landline while helping to fix my room's overhead projector ... in order to continue to use it, I tried to attach the broken piece of antenna back to the cordless phone by using scotch tape

but then again, it's flimsy and came off on it's own ... the worst part was that it went missing when I need to use it ... I could have use it nearer to the main reception but would very much prefer to use it in my room which is far away and would have so much interference that would render it impossible to talk on the phone ...

so I went looking around for metallic object to help extend the reach of the cordless phone's antenna and I found

aluminum foil !

Yup! it's a little great "invention" of mine ... the foil could be easily rolled up and fixed onto the phone's antenna outlet and it actually helps with the transmission : ) can't stop giving myself pad over the shoulder for this hahahaha

HandCock "way too much" trailer

Mr Fan once send me a link to a review that reviewed the movie based on the trailer. It's a disturbing trend cos the review was quite spot on. It's either movies nowadays are so similarly structured or the trailer reviewed too much that there's hardly any surprise anymore ...

Caught the HanCock's latest trailer at Yahoo Movies (which doesn't load as well as youtube and it's quicktime gives me trouble that Apple Trailers never did before, so not exactly my fave place to view trailers ... but anyway back to wat I was about to say .... ) and the trailer review keep popping in my head ... I think I am able to tell what's going to happen in HandCock ... at least 3/4 of the way and I can guess what's going to happen in the end

So might contain Spoilish content below which I am Guessing from the Trailer

Will Smith's Hancock starts as an irresponsible Superhero who don't care how much damage he cause while trying to do good. It got up till a point where Jason Bateman, a PR man and likely a friend, to show him the problems in his action. He probably had a change of heart (with involvement of Charlize Theron cos you don't put a big name in this movie and don't let her do anything that get involves with the change in the lead character) but it's too late as the courts decided to jail him for the damages that he had caused.

In Jail, crime rate rises and soon, he will need to be released and this reformed superhero with the PR help of Jason Bateman will soon gain the public approval once again.

Of cos cannot just end in this manner. For the little blink and you'll miss revelation in this trailer, I bet there will be another character with super power and this super villain's revelation or power gaining will take place through out the movie, with little bits littered everywhere. And I'm betting it will be power like Storm or Telekinetic sort of power. Should end in a happy ending but with HanCock going thru one of the "hardest fight" of his life and the city is likely to underwent major destruction which Hancock will help to repair with his superpower.

(Spoiler Ends)

It might be non chronological but otherwise, it essentially the same. I think I'll be skipping this but folks who read this blog n either plannign to watch this or die die has to catch every single movies one, please let me know how far am I off the mark.
