Should I change to iMac G5?

Been a PC user all my life but now I am considering of changing to iMac. My PC's getting Old and Laggy nowadays and can't really support the programs that i want to run on my computer

iMac G5 look pretty slick (going to clear up my room and would need the extra space taken up by my cpu) and lots of goodies that I wanna play with (such as GarageBand~ make my own music, iMovie & iDVD ~ to "make" my own movie)

Another + point would be that they allow installments, so I don't need to worry about paying one lump sum at one go.

Currently Eyeing at the iMac G5 with 20-inch... but need more reasons than what I have now to convert and make the purchase ($$$ ah)

Arrival of My First online Dvd Purchase !

I got this nagging feeling the whole day since I woke up this morning that I will be receiving my DVD package today. I was quite disappointed when my Dad told me that there was nothing in the letter box for me and no postman came knocking on my door.

In the late evening, when I was going to the kitchen for a drink, I overheard my Mom asking my Dad how did the Postman stuff the Box into the LetterBox.

Immediately I knew IT"S HERE ! My first online DVD purchase had arrived !

My first reaction when I saw the DVD package was "OH NO". The dent on the box looked pretty bad and I was worried that my DVDs inside would be crushed or damaged.

And then I wonder how did the Postman stuff the Box into the Letterbox.

and then I wonder who should I look for if the DVDs inside are really damaged.

When I opened up the package, it turn out that it was only the area that was stuffed with waste paper that got dented. The Dvds inside were all fine and dandy. When I took the DVDs out, I realized that there was a DVD that extremely white. (the only DVD that I Ordered that was white was The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and it hasn't been shipped yet). It turned out to be Herbie Fully Loaded DVD which I didn't order. I was pretty happy and thought that I got a Freebie (I actually thought the Movie was so bad that the company that sold me the DVDs was giving out that Dvd to their first time buyer = me).

Initially I thought my new Dvds collection will be in mint conditions (I am very particular about that) since it was quite well packed.

The most heartbreaking event occurred when I was opening the plastic wrappers.
Two of the Dvds (Vanilla Sky & The Shawshank Redemption) with security tape at the Dvd's bottom got attached to the cover. As hard (and slowly) as I tried, some bits of the cover still came off with the tape. URGH! The same thing happened with my The Usual Suspects Dvd last year. That really spoiled the fun of opening my Dvds and now my Dvds are not so Mint Liao. Gotto look for the DVD covers and print my own replacement covers.
The Next shocking bit came when I
was having Dinner with my Family. Out of the sudden, I thought of Hollywood and Agents, I realized something was very Wrong! my "Swimming with Sharks" was not in the package! It was then I realized that DeepDiscountDvds actually shipped Herbie instead of Sharks ! Double URGH for the Day !

I quickly send them an email and hope that they will be able to resolve this problem without me sending Herbie back (It's not that I want this DVD but kinda troublesome for me) .

Even tho there were couple of hiccups, I was still pretty happy with the whole online dvd purchase experience. I ordered the Dvds on the 15 Nov, shipped on the 18th of Nov and reach me on the 28th of Nov.

Less than 10 working days for the items to reach me and the total cost for this DVDs are so much cheaper than those sold in Retail Stores in Singapore, I think I will be getting more Dvds online from now on. Can't wait till the next sale (which should be June 2006)

(Sidetrack Info: Most retail stores here carry Canadian R1 Dvds instead of US R1 Dvds which I suspect are the cheaper bunch + I hate French Wordings on the covers of any English Movie. The last time I check, a "Doggie" retail store carry Star Wars 3 US R1 Dvd for $50 +! what a Rip off ! I only spend $24 (inclusive of shipping) to purchase that Dvd online.)

While the Saga continue (still got 2 DVds that had not been shipped to me), Excuse me while I am off to enjoy those movies that I love and the extra that I been waiting to see.

Mr. Miyagi has passed away

Just saw the news on Yahoo! and was pretty sad about it.Pat Morita, the famous Mr. Miyagi has passed away on Thursday of natural causes. He was 73 years old.

I grew up with "The Karate Kid" franchise and will always remember his teaching on how to catch flies with chopsticks and the crane kick.

My First Lightning pic and others tat I'm proud off

Been on a Shooting Spree again with my Razr and there are three pictures that I am pretty proud off.
hey hey hey Got my First Lightning at 6am in the morning ! Got it with my HP (was not able to do so with my digital camera as there was too much lag time). Not exactly the best Lightning pic around but it's my first and I am damn proud of it!

Was walking back from Shaw Lido and saw this bus ad outside HMV. I don't know who the model is or what they are selling But this gal and her pose got that alluring charm that I found it hard to resist. Currently my HP wallpaper.

MY DEATHSTAR!!! I was walking pass CK TANG and saw their fixtures for Christmas. Using my HP, I took one of their decorative at a strange angle and the result was pretty good. Take a guess when you pass by CK TANG and see if you are able to guess where was this picture taken?

the latest cd that I got (after a long long time)

This post is so hard to write. My Write up just disappear after I tired to scroll up and this is actually my 4th attempt in writing this! URGH!
Back to the Latest DM CD that I got! It's been a long time since I got myself a CD. Partly due to the problem that my Hi-Fi CD player is out of order and my only portable CD player is a chunky old one that I got from a Coke Contest (which isn't exactly functioning well too).
But still Depeche Mode's back with their latest studio album and among my favourite bands, they still retain the old charm that got me following them (U2 on the other hand is not doing so well in my book).

Just in case you don't understand what going on in the shorts, we (the four of us) are spoofing the organisers for coming out with such a strange theme "^#&$*)" and playing the bits of the participants who are cracking their heads over the theme.

Enjoy and NO! Your 5 Minutes are not refundable

the next few short films that I am thinking of making are

1) Spoof of Alien attacking Orchard RD (inspired by Linus)
2) A Basketball Match (a trip back memory lane for me)
3) A Comic Book Adaptation (from Astro City,Vol. 2 No. 1/2 — "The Nearness of You" )

The Orange Juice that Gone Baddd

just in case u don't know, I am Banned from Coke and other soft drinks (just when Vanilla Coke will be phased out soon), so don't feed me any Coke okie!

anyway today my gf walk into my room with a cup and i asked her what is she drinking and why not drink from the bottle of water i have in my room. I was told it was Orange Juice (the only other liquid stuff that I am allowed beside Water) and I left her to her drinking sesssion beside me.

afterwards, she handled over the "almost" empty cup to me to put it on the table beside me.

The First thing I noticed was that the remaining liquid left was very black and there this very familiar smell to it ... not those that would be emitted by Orange Juice ! and my detective mind started working and realized it was the Vanilla Coke that I stocked up in the fridge (U know the Vanilla Coke going to be Phased out and I will be missing it when it's gone) I turned around and told her : "Your Orange Juice gone bad, if U know what I mean"

Just Added: I went to check on my Vanilla COKE and oh my gosh! So much Gone!

and the best Christmas Deco Goes to ...

I was out with Andrew & family at Orchard Rd for Dinner and some Pre-Christmas Photo Taking.

Yup before Orchard Rd will be jammed up and all expressway towards to Orchard Rd all clogged up until late late night.

One of the better lookin Shopping Centre Deco this year would be Centrepoint, filled
with M&Ms deco.

But that not the best. The best goes to the Post Office at Orchard Rd. Yup it look like a cottage fill with lights and even have a small garden in front.

Check it out when you are near Orchard Point area.

My First Online DVD purchases

Deep Discount Dvd.com are having their twice-a-year 20% discount and I finally bought Dvds online. HOpe they will reach me soon and safely!

The titles that I bought/ordered are:

AMELIE US$ 11.04
THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY (2D/SE) US$ 15.98
VANILLA SKY US$ 4.79
SWIMMING WITH SHARKS (SE) US$ 8.50
CITIZEN KANE (2DISC/SE) US$ 16.30
SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (2 DISC) US$ 16.32
COLLATERAL (WS) US$ 11.19
STAR WARS-REVENGE OF THE SITH (WS) US$ 13.10 (for my brother-in-law)

Think it's pretty cheap deal, Specially for "Star Wars 3" Code 1. The price work out to be about S$24 dollars (inclusive Shipping) and the price for "Star Wars 3" R1 Dvd in Singapore is about S$40 or more.

The only thing is that "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" is on backorder and I got no idea when it will comes. It was "Vanilla Sky" the last time I wanted to make my purchases and now it's GBU's turn.

Fly By Night, Dead By Day (Part 3)

~one of the last-min shot we did ~

And so like all gootd things, there must be an end. We managed to send the finished item to Substation 15 mins before the dateline.

We didn't win any prize but it was a good experience and exposure to film making. The existence of Video Media Maker (that comes in a bundle with Windows Xp) was made known to me for the first time and got me drooling big time.

I am also known as Amex

Was pretty tired but when Andrew came screaming and running thru the custom gates, it was all worth it.
yup he greeted Denise as "Jie Jie" and guess what he called me? "AMEX!"hehehe served me right for flashing Amex Cards (among others DBS / POSB cards) as Flash Cards in front of him. I was told he did call me "Jui Jui" / "Dai Jui" = "Uncle" / "Big Uncle" but it was all done behind my backs.
Then he started asking for Nissian Car Keys to play with and started throwing my bank cards all over the airport floor. Yup the cute Andrew is back !

Fly by Night, Dead by Day (Part 2)

The most important mistake for this event (that I made) was not sleeping / able to sleep the night before. I believe I had only 4 to 5 hours of sleep before the long day ahead. So I was almost like a Zombie for the whole day and therefore the title: Fly By Night, Dead By Day!

The real fun of the filming begins when we started goofing with different movies genre in our short film. We even went all the way to Labrador Park to film some "War Scene", stalking a HDB Flat's Lift for some “Ju-On” Horror moments and creating some of our own special "fighting" effects.

The scary moments were when we were running out of battery and not sure we have enough clips for the 5 mins short film. The amazing bits were coming out with excellent impromptu ideas when time was pressing down on us.

By the time we reach Loki's place to upload all the footage onto his Computer and getting ready for editing, I was pretty burned out and in a KO State. No time to rest cos my Sister and her family will be back soon.

So it was back to running back to fetch Denise and trying to get the charger from Loki's friend (but end up getting lost in Punggol) before rushing to pick Andrew & family up

~how about using this as space ship?~

Fly By Night, Dead By Day (Part 1)

and that how the maddness for the following few days begun!

It's a short film contest organised Objectifs and the challenge would be to film a 5 mins film over the weekend. (More info http://www.fly-by-night.org/) The Theme for this year contest was revealed at around 7.30pm and it was rather unexpected by everyone (in case u don't get it, the picture above "^#&$*)" is the theme for this year short film).

By 11.30pm, we came up with something to poke fun at the organiser for coming up with such a theme (and discarding a storyline that we had been working on for one hour or so) and fixed up the shooting schedules tomorrow.

We went back some ZZZ time before the hectic shooting begins tomorrow.

The usual A&W stop over

Every Drive trip back from KL will be incomplete without a stop over at an A&W restaurant on an overhead bridge above the expressway.

Why A&W ? cos we can't get it in Singapore anymore (seems that all their outlets are closed here)
and this trip, I had the most disappointing A&W meal of all time.

RootBeer Float - Fail (Not served in a Frosty Mug & not Cold at all)
Corny Dogs - Fail (Too Small to last more than 4 bites)
Waffle Butter - Fail (Too Hard and It's the first A&W Waffle that I can't finish)

the only thing that Pass was the Curly Fries.
