Ear Worm: Stoned
Chicane : Stoned in Love (featuring Tom Jones)
I was searching for Johnny Cash's songs and instead found a new song with Chicane name on it and he got Mr Sex Bomb to sing it ... a few minutes later, this song is being played over n over again on my playlist
“You are stoned in love but not with me”
It didnt sound like Tom Jones at all until the chorus part when his trademark voice became evident ... this gotto be my favourite Tom Jones' song, kudos to him for working Chicane
sigh but I dont think can find Chicane's CD in Singapore shops ... dont think anyone heard of it before. Chicane's 3rd album didnt even make it pass the promo period over at the UK ... I hope this latest album will at least be able to see the some playtime in UK and hopefully then it will also catches on here.
if you are interested in techno blending with new age type of music, Chicane is worth checking it out
Other older tracks that I recommend would be
No Ordinary Morning (it was this song's MTV that got me started on Chicane)
The Drive Home
Autumn Tactics

Religion is ...
"Religion is the Opiate of the Masses"
-Karl Marx-
Got this quote from one of the many endless arguments that going on at Da Vinci Code's imdb topic and I can't shake it off my mind
did some search and came up with this
In the above quotation Marx is saying that religion’s purpose is to create illusory fantasies for the poor. Economic realities prevent them from finding true happiness in this life, so religion tells them that this is OK because they will find true happiness in the next life.
Although this is a criticism of religion, Marx is not without sympathy: people are in distress and religion provides solace, just as people who are physically injured receive relief from opiate-based drugs.

what if it merely helps you forget about the problem but it doesn't solve it ?

Yeah! my R2 Wallace & Gromit Dvd is here !
After a game of basketball in the morning, I found a surprise in the letter box : ) hey hey hey it's the Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbits R2 DVD, one of my top ten movies of 2005
I got this via ebay (almost got it from amazon.uk but found a cheaper deal at ebay)and I been waiting for this dvd for almost 2 weeks.
was about to send the seller an email, asking him how long will the shipment going to be. I even check the Royal Mail (a UK's Singpost) and was worried that he might had send the dvd via surface and that could take up to 8 weeks!
But then worries over cos it's here : )
If u noticed it, it comes with yellow case, instead of those normal black ones ... it's one of the reasons why I got this DVD UK2 (of cos beside it got a little more extra stuff compared to the R1 version and since W&G was made in UK, I would like to get a Dvd from that country)
Now I can’t wait to see what it got to offer : )

what your dream paradise ?
out of the blue, i received a sms from old friend asking me "what is your dream paradise?" ... kinda reminded me of another difficult question that my friend asked me, what's my passion ??
couple of things came into my mind but too RA to be mention here : )
so then i finally settled with this
"to live a life without any consequences"
not bad right ?

and the Surprise Screening was ...
Singapore Dreaming!Yup the recent sold out Gala film at Singapore International Film Fest.
We were quite surprise to see Colin Goh and his wife there when we were collecting our tickets. I was wondering if Colin Goh and his wife were like us, taking part in a contest held by UIP and watching the Mystery movie like us (and maybe wishing it was going to be MI3 too)
When Richard Low (the mediacorp artist who starred in I Not Stupid and Singapore Dreaming) appeared with his kaki, we started suspecting that it might be Singapore Dreaming instead and once we received the survey forms prior entering the cinema, Stefan told us it's a confirm case as the survey asked about the knowledge of Singapore Dreaming.
And I have to say that it was uniquely bagus! It was funny, it was depressing real and most important of all, it had characters and situation that most Singaporean could relate or identify with. One of the best Singapore Films I seen so far and easily an entry for my Top Ten films for 2006. Singapore Dreaming comes highly recommended by me! It should be receiving general release this coming August and do give this local film a chance.

Surprise Screening
Just got email for a Surprise Screening this Sat Morning : )
Super Duper Excited about it !!! I got a strange feeling that it could be one of the Summer BlockBuster that I want to catch ... and my fren who is going with me promise a Gubra DVD if it really turned out that way ... and we will be jumping on the SOFA and shouting "T__ C_____ I love YOu!"
or it might turn out to be a cartoon movie and watch the bubble bursts

My Third Online Dvd Purchases : Ebay + VpostUsa Saga Part Finale
It took only 2 more days from the other ebay - vpost shipments.
cant wait to watch this movie in reverse order and what my verdict on Ebay n VpostUsa ?
hmmm I dont think I will ever buy anything via them that I could get from other online Dvds sellers such as DeepDiscountDvd.
VpostUsa was just too expensive. Bloody hell, Base Charge and Variable Charges. It just not worth it. And the service ... well I got no problems with those who answered my local inquiry but the online email took quite sometime to get back to me. Specially nearing the end of the Discount promo, they kept asking me if that certain package belongs to me ... which I replied 3 times, each time taking a couple of days in between.
and I know they have to be sure but then it came to a point that it was bloody obvious that the package was mine and which item it was supposed to be and they have to ask me ! argh !!
dont think I will ever use them again unless the item I want does not ship international and I want it so badly that I dont mind the extra cost
Ebay: hmmm so far so good ... only encounter 1 person during this Dvd spree that didn't listen to my instruction. there was some minor dents for the used items but otherwise I am fine with it. but will i keep buying from them ? I am not sure about that ... this spree might even cost me from taking part in the next DDD 20% sale ... and it got to be item that I cant get from a US online seller that is willing to ship to Singapore

My Third Online Dvd Purchases : Ebay + VpostUsa Saga Part 2
the saga continues ... and Vpost in action : )
just 1 or 2 days before Denise's new account's discount deadline, my last shipment reached the vpost office in LA : ) phew was worried abit cos there was US custom check alert and what not ... but heng heng everything was ready to ship 24 hours before the deadline's 2359hrs
and today the day that they arrived ... (6 days of shipping). the first surprise was that it came as individual packages as shown in the photo above. I was expecting vpostusa to pack them in a box or something but that not the case.
and the funny thing was that the postman actually called Denise up before sending those parcels to my place ... kinda funny right ?? I thought normally if no one at home, they will just leave a slip for the receiver to collect it at the post office : )
the biggest surprise was that it was missing the final item that I bought from ebay ... I was spooked for a while, thought that item went missing but after checking with the good people of vpost, it's been delayed becos of the US custom. A good thing cos it's not the our local MDA or custom : ) phew shall wait for the final item before I judge the vpost and ebay dvd purchases
the 4 dvds that reached my place today : )among them, the most expensive and the one that I been seeking for would be the Batman Begins Delux Dvd.
What so special you might ask ... well it's a Lenticular Cover dvd where the cover changes when u look at it from different direction : ) a limited ed from Best Buy in USA (their Hypermarket)
but Singapore also got right ?? ... well the cover design different and this one is bigger and better looking : )
okie gotto feed my visual n hearing pleasures ... later
