Hong Kong Cafe Pte Ltd @ Thomson Road

one of the most frequently recommended Hong Kong Cafe by my relative and frens... after being let down by a couple of other HK cafe I been to in Singapore, I am kind of intrigued by this outlet that I am hearing only good stuff of ... after visiting my grandma at TTSH, my family and I decided to drop by to try (since Andrew likes HK Cafe food too ... thanks to his grace)

I thought the parking would be a headache as there isn't really any visible parking and what I remembered about the car park for this row of shop houses was that it's packed and limited in spaces. But going there at 9pm and even tho it was relatively packed at all the makan places in those shop houses, parking was easy and there are even plenty of spaces around. Let just say parking will no longer be a deterring factor for coming to this place for food.

Consumed >

Sid Mud Tea .. aka "pantyhose milk tea" or "silk stocking milk tea"

HK Cafe Special Baked ie Baked Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce Pork Chop on one side and Creamy Sauce with Seafood on the other

Golden Fantasy ie Mango with Pomelo sacs

Wasn't my first order as Andrew put swipe his finger across my first mango dessert ... so gave him that desert and order another one ...

Goodies > Let's start with the Tea first!!! Drinking it felt like a stocking was being stuff down my throat : ) No it's not a torture ... it's what I feel the stocking milk tea should feel like ... that dry feeling when the milk is running down the throat ... one of the better HK style milk tea that I had tried in Singapore so far

Then comes the Baked Spaghetti ... I started with the cream sauce which tasted a rather bland and even the seafoods in it (consisting of slices of fish and squid) was just there to be chew at. but when it comes to the tomato sauce and the pork chop .... it was siok siok ... the pork chop was nice n yummy and the sauce taste good on its own and laggi better when mixed with the cream sauce ...

Yuckies > Mango Pomelo dessert ... had always been a disappointing feature for me at all HK cafe ... kinda high on price but low on wow factor.. it's not bad but it just not justifiable at that price. For the best Mango Pomelo desert, it's still that dessert shop beside Lucky Chinatown for me.

Cost > $13.80 for Baked Spagetti, Socking Milk Tea $2.50 & Mango Desert $5.50

Returning (?) > Love to, tried the unfinished Abalone Sauce Dried Scallop HK E-Fu Noodles that my mom ordered and it was so good that I made sure nothing was left on the bowl when I was done with it ... so much more to try : )

Quote from A Chinese Odyssey

Joker: "Once I had one true love in front of me,
but I didn't treasure her
it was only when I lost her,
that I felt regretful.
It's the most painful ordeal in this world.
If I'm given another chance
I will say three words to her

"I love you"
If there a need to put a time limit to this love
I hope it's ten thousand years
"

why thank god?

Miami Ink just feature this tattoo on this guy who had survived a potentially fatal fall. he had a cross with wings tattooed onto his shoulder and thanked god for keeping him alive.

I can't help but wonder why is there a need to thank god ? Let's not talk about my belief in religion and assume that god do truly exist ... I still can't really see the point in thanking him.

first of all ... as Christians who believed in heaven after passing on this life, isn't that such act by god withholding you from eternal joy and actually making you suffer more in life?? come on face it, in life extension, the probability of going thru more lost with love ones, relationship woes , financial problems , watching the world destroy itself and blaming everyone else but themselves and etc (i think u get the point) just increased .... I know some will argue that the joy comes with suffering shouldn't be discounted but if you claim to love god so much ... shouldn't you be with your god sooner than later???

then ... ever wonder "who" put in such potential fatal situation in the first place if god truly exist ? satan ??? the devil ??? now remember god is all mighty and can control all things except your freewill and to that degree, even if the accident wasn't planned or done by god, he had in his infinite power allow it to happen ... I just find it hard to thank the one to put / allow one in such situation ... he did it so that i can be thankful to him? oh spare me the pain and misery please

Some might say that god has a plan ... a master plan that we human won't understand ... it will be like ants trying to understand humans action ... which just sound like bullshit to me ... if i don't understand , what make you so smart that you can understand the actions of a certain being that we all can't see or hear? cos you can feel it ?? well aren't we all just three blind folks feeling up an elephant?

why cant we just accept that we were lucky enough to survive a potential fatal accident? a roll of dice and we just happen to come on top? there's no one bigger higher or more powerful than us and we are just a spec of dust trying to survive the chaotic randomness ... it's ok, you don't have to panic ... this isn't a school bus without driver or a fish tank with the mysterious hand feeding us ... it's ok that no one is in control of things that happen ... bad things do happen but we definately don't need to credit god for getting over it ... u did it so be proud of it

the hunter and the bear

a close friend accursed me of being a jerk ass to her and that inspired me to tell her this joke that i read a long time ago

once upon a time
there is this hunter who went to the Forest to hunt
then a bear surprise him out of no where
the bear ripped his clothes off
pin the hunter down to the floor
and rape him
then left him and when on its way
the hunter was rescued back to the town
nursed back to health

the hunter swear that he will have his revenge
so
he brought more weapons n trap
to kill the bear that rapped him
he went back to the Forest
and manged to find the bear
ambush it
n kill it
he was so happy
that he didn't realize there another bear behind him
this new bear pin him down
rape him and left him half dead

some towns ppl was passing by
saw him and rescue him
this time
it took him months to recover
once he is well
he swear he must revenge himself
and he brought even more weapons n traps

he set up in the Forest and waited for the bear that rape him
as he waited n waited
a bear appear behind him
and whisper to him
admit it ... you are not really out here to hunt

: ) get it ??? don't be shy if you didn't

Let's do something inside you

My New Fave Singer ...
Infant Sorrow - We've Got To Do Something

A very environmental song ... i like : ) let's do something (linking it to the next song)

Infant Sorrow - Inside of You

Inside of you
Inside of you
There's got to be
Some part of me
Inside of you

Inside of you, the restless find their dreams
Inside of you, this king has found his queen
Inside of you, all the stars unfold
I've crossed me heart and I've crossed the world
And I need you here and I need to be
Inside of you

: )

okie ... joke aside ... the real ear worm for the day is ...
Sam Sparro - Black and Gold

Cool Tune n Video ...

Cos if you're not really here
then the stars don't even matter
now i'm filled to the top with fear
but it's all just a bunch of matter
Cos if you're not really here
then i don't want to be either
black and gold
black and gold
black and gold ...

What the Point of this Question?

Ought to be shot

Recently, there a TV spot for The Clone Wars on Channel 5 and MediaCorp send this media artist over to Japan to cover the Gala Premiere. This reporter got travel all the way to Japan (yes! I was drooling at the perks that he was enjoying) to interview the Singaporean fans who traveled all the way there, the voice behind C3PO and the director.

What stood out for this interview session was this question that the reporter asked the director... "If Miss Piggy and Yoda got into a fight, who will win the fight (or something along that line)"

On one hand, I know that he is trying to be "funny" and the linkage that the original Yoda and Miss Piggy are from the puppet family and Frank Oz but it really felt that he didn't really done any proper research for the movie or ask the relevant question.

Would a fan of Star Wars be interested in such a silly match up? I am not really a big fan of Star Wars (after what had happened with EP 1 2 3 and the over squeezing of cash Cows incidents) but this kind of question would definitely not help generate any interest for this film either.

It also reminded me that my friends were complaining about the spoiler issue that a reporter posted an Today article about the Dark Knight. Not only did she gave away a major turn of event that came so unexpectedly, she also went on, blabbering on about writing a marriage proposal to Christian Bale ...WTF! a guy who is married since 2000

These two incidents just made me shake my head in despair ... there are fans who are really interested to know more interesting and useful information (without veering off to spoilish land). I can't believe that there are major companies that actually spend the money on people, send them so far to ask this kind of pointless question and editors who actually approved these kind of questions. What a bloody waste of money!

let the games begin

almost missed the opening of The Beijing Olympics 2008 as I was watching Idiocracy

some quick thoughts abt the opening parade ...

  • Isn't it sad that Taiwan participants couldn't wave their own flags while Hong Kong can ?
  • 080808 is a nice number but did the Chinese Organiser realize that it's the Chinese Ghost Festival period?
  • Wouldn't it be better if Singapore postpone the National Day Celebration? Beijing Olympics Opening is going to be a tough act to follow

Dont Stay out too Late!

... cos it's that time of the year again!!!

I'm aware of the commencement of the festival but I had forgotten about the staying out late bits until my friend reminded me. Personally it was rather amusing piece of news because last night, I actually chose to stay out later than usual. I actually ate alone at Centerpoint Mac after a late night movie, something that I normally don't do as I ta bao / buy back.

Anyway, after that alert, I became more aware of things going around me and when I was waiting for my lift to descent to the ground floor, I sense that the lift to the other alternate levels was open for an awful long time.

Normally the lifts come equipped with sensors that would automatically close after people had enter or left the lift. It will remain open only if someone is standing at the lift door way.

I took a peek over my shoulder and realize ... it's still opened after quite a long while ... and something isn't right, nothing's blocking the door. I wonder was it because the sensor detected something and therefore it wasn't able to close the door. ... mustering my courage, I turned around and take a closer look and discover ...

lift rosak (spoiled) ... hahahahahahaah

this post is made possible by Khaw AiLing and special thanks to my informer.
