Maru @ Mohamed Sultan Road

Eversince my friend send me the Maru website, I been very gian to go try out their Korean BBQ, specially the Marinated Short Rib which got three stamps of recommendation. So with Makan Kaki, we went down to try out this very nicely deco Korean Restaruant (where the Old Mdm Wong used to be)

Was quite impressed with the service ... tho it's a disturbing trend that I been getting served by Chinese who can't speak or understand English. The BBQ is done at the table with the waitress or waiter that attending. Our waitress service was retired early as one of my group wanted to DIY ... fun but I can't help thinking, people want to serve us, let them serve lor ...


And strangely, we were seating at a table for 4 and order a combo set for 3 plus one or two dish but there were so many dishes that it had to be placed on the table beside us (which lucky is empty at that moment). How is that the people in charge never plan properly? or did we eat too slowly?





The food keep coming, one right after another which is fun for a greedy guy like me who is stuffing my mouth full and beam with joy as another plate is served onto our table .... there are quite a few variety of side dishes and the potatoe noodles, the fish cake and this potatoe with red sauce that's not spicy stood out




Yuckies > It's not smoky or hot but I did feel rather uncomfortable after the meal ... The beef quite all right but not that great and 20 bucks for 6 prawns? a bit pricy ... and while driving back, I can't help but think will they last long? It wasn't that crowded on a Sat dinner time and located in such prime location with such fancy deco ... the food not "wow" fantastic ... I feel wary on how long this restaruant will last ... somehow it made me missed the old no frill traditional Korean food at Sandakan ... Not fancy but darn good

Cost > check the website for cost ... it cost abt $260 + for the four of us

Returning (?) > Either I find another gang that interested ... it wasn't that great that I would return against the pricy range
