Tactics for Chess ??

Was out with Terence and his gf for dinner and Terence GF was studying 3 letter words for Scrabble competition tomorrow while I munch on my Cheese melt foldover ... with a mouthful of minced cheese and chicken bits, I told her about playing scrabble on Facebook .... how you can "cheat" against your opponent (will not go in details here as many of my victims read my blog)

then I recount to them how I stopped playing Scrabble online for the longest time and I am currently hooked on chess online at viwawa. Even tho it was playing with young punks, I still managed to get trashed (cos there are times when I am distracted by incoming messages and what's going on on tv and so on the excuses will never stop)

Terence then mention that there are grandmaster software around ... it will be akin to playing against with those #1 chess master ... putting one and one together, it became clear how I can have my revenge on those arrogant young punks that beat me

Using those grandmaster program, I will make the same moves against the computer as my opponent does at viwawa, then I will copy the moves that the computer come out with and use it against the online opponent ...hehehe they will never know what hit them

Death by Self Entrapment

Had a disappointing streak with Chess ever since I returned back from Perth ... been getting my ass kick by almost everyone even folks with Level 1 status (I'm already a Level 4)

and most of the time, it was becos I lost my Queen due to my careless mistake ... yup I often take my Queen for granted and forgot to care for her as much as I should had ...

today, it happened again.

My Queen was exposed to in coming attacks and I didn't realized it until it was too late. I wanted to give up but lucky I managed to makan a few of my opponent's major pieces so beside the lost of my Queen, I was slightly better with my other long distance movable pieces.

as my opponent was attacking me, I bunch my Castles, Knight n Bishops together to attack his Queen. He on the other hand, hide his King behind three Pawns and move his Castle out , preparing to attack me.

I sacrifice my Bishop to lure his Castle out so that my Castles that are position to pretend to be attacking his Queen could zoom down to face his King in a tight corner ...

had to wait a while and when I finally got to zoom down to the final line with his Castle, I was surprise to find that I didn't get a Checkmate. It turn out that his Queen was in a position to zoom back for a last bid effort to safe his Queen. Lucky after some fore planning, it will probably turn out to be a mass massacre on his side and will just delay the inevitable ...

the most siok win for the longest period of time !

Ambush from Afar

Was being attacked by opponent, with the enemy Queen looming near my King. I got a Knight protecting me and was baited when my opponent dangle a Bishop with my Knight's kill range ... when I moved my Knight away, His Queen came right in front of me and I got checkmated

what I didn't realize was that he got another Bishop right at the far corner of the chessboard .. protecting his Queen, making it useless for my King to attack his Queen and His Queen checking all my possible moves ...

Lessons Learnt

1 A backed up Queen is a great way to checkmate
2 Be aware of all the opponent's pieces
3 Be ware of easy bait ... even if it's careless mistake by the opponent

Lessons from Chess 2

Pawns are as important as your Queens

had a sacrificial Game tonight where my oponent and I were removing all the major chess pieces such as the queen, bishop and etc ... the final deciding factors was how many Pawns do we have left and how fast could we reach the end of the chess board for the swap ...

so the crux in both games were defending all the Pawns left and protecting until they can become Queens ... yeah you can have more than one Queen in a game !
